Nigerians are beginning to notice that the newly installed Pre-paid meters in Nigeria, especially in Plateau State are not working according to standard.
Nigerians have also observed that the meters are faster and therefore, consuming more units.
In a letter of complaint to the Managing Director of Jos Electricity Distribution (JED) Plc; at Electric House, Ahmadu Bello Way Jos, Consumers are already avoiding contractors from installing these new meters being distributed by JED.
Speaking on grounds of anonymity, one of the Electrical Contractors in Jos told REALITY that, “we have advised that it would have been better to be charged without meters than using this meter to drain the little income that comes consumers’ way.”
From the complaints made available to REALITY, consumers have called on JED to calibrate the meters before further installations.
