Giving his appreciation on his emergence, Hon. Yusuf Gagdi first showed his appreciation to his constituents at Kantana Constituency in Kanan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The Speaker in his Facebook page stated as follows:
“I appreciate you and I also thank God Almighty for my election as the chairman of State Legislators in Nigeria.
“With due sense of humility and unequaled exhortation to the Almighty God for His abundant grace upon my life, I wish to humbly thank my constituents for their abiding faith in my capabilities to represent them at the State Legislature, and the retinue of my supporters and well wishers all over the state and beyond who have displayed unflinching commitment to my political course.
“When on the 11th April 2015, the election of Kantana constituency came out in their numbers to exercise their franchises; they kept hope alive and stuck a deal with me despite the political exigencies of that moment, which did not appear favourable to my party, the PDP.
“They believed in my candidacy and aligned with my blueprint in the quest to ameliorate the suffering of our people and extricate our constituency from the grip of backwardness and political doldrums that have been our woes for a very long time.
“In the past one year of my representation, I was able to the glory of God, keep my own part of the bargain by paying the WEAC fees for all the SS3 students in the Constituency which amounted to over six million Naira and also complete the Ra’an Jahr palace in Dogon-Ruwa that amounted to over seven million Naira amongst and many other achievements within the period under review.
“In acknowledgement of the genuineness of my intentions and actions for my constituency in particular and humanity in general, the Almighty Allah has decided to add another feather to my cap by making me, through the support of other State Legislators from all over Nigeria, THE STEERING CHAIRMAN OF THE CONFERENCE OF STATE LEGISLATORS IN NIGERIA at its retreat that climaxed with my election, along with four others held at Obudu, Cross River State.
“Others are Rt.Hon Olakunke Oluoma of Ogun State House of Assembly as Secretary, Rt Hon Ogana Lukpata of Cross River State House of Assembly as Treasurer and Hon Alice Asaje Dimlong of Plateau State House of Assembly who was nominated to represent Women Legislators in the Conference is to serve as the Organizing secretary.
“I decided to first of all, break this news to my Constituents because, they are the reason I am in the Plateau State Assembly in the first place and to my friends and supporters all over Nigeria and beyond.
“I, more than ever before, solicit for your continuous support and prayer that the Almighty keeps using me to uplift humanity in what ever way possible and never to allow the lucre of power sway me from doing what is right.
“It is your prayers that sustained me thus far and I need it more to continue to navigate the murky waters of Nigerian politics.
“Thank you very much and may Allah’s will alone prevail in this daunting task bestowed on my fragile shoulder.”
