ISSUES ON GRAZING RESERVES OR RANCHES IN PLATEAU STATE, ARE SPECULATIONS TO US, AS THE HOUSE HAS NOT BEEN COMMUNICATED ON THAT BY THE EXECUTIVE—DEPUTY SPEAKER

By: Valentine Adese

The Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, has disclosed that issues concerning grazing reserves or the need to establish Ranches in the state still remain as speculations to the members of the state House of Assembly, as the Executive arm has not in any way communicated such issues to them.

Hon. Gagdi who disclosed this today, during an extensive interaction with some journalists in his office at the State House of Assembly complex, said, “we are also hearing the rumor as others in the state. So I really cannot comment on it.”

He however explained that as Legislators, they owe the people who voted them into the House, explanations on things that are happening in the state and also to discuss with the people concerning proposed policies of the state government brought to the their notice. But, on the grazing reserves or ranches, he said, “the Governor and his Executives have not communicated us.”

Rt. Hon. Gagdi, who is also the Chairman of the Conference of Nigerian State Legislators said, until the issues concerning the Executive policy on grazing reserves and Ranches is communicated to the House to look into, “they remain speculations”

You would recall that youths in the state in their hundreds, came out today to protest against the All Progressive Congress (APC) administration’s policy led by Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong, on alleged attempt to create grazing reserves in the state.
