The Special Assistant to Governor Simon Bako Lalong, Hon. Sabiu Ibrahim Musa, has called on the Muslim Ummah in Plateau state and Nigeria at large, to see this season of Eid Kabir, as a time for sober reflection and to genuinely call on God for intervention concerning Plateau State and Nigeria as a country. On the significance of Eid Kabir, Hon. Sabiu said, “It’s for sober reflection not a time for extravagancy. Of great importance is the fact that it is not mandatory, but if you have the financial means to buy a ram and slaughter as an act of sacrifice for your family, it goes a long way to strengthen your faith”.
He went further to shed more light on the meaning and importance of Eid Kabir to the Muslim Ummah, saying, “In Arabic when you say Kabir, it means big because there is the one we call small Sallah. Eid Kabir is significant to the Muslim Ummah in the sense that prophet Ibrahim was ordered by God to sacrifice his son, but later he was stopped and the son was replaced with a ram. So God has ordained the Muslim Ummah to always see this period as a sacrificial period”.
On his call to the people, Hon. Sabiu, advised the Muslim Ummah to always be peaceful and pray for the country. “As a leader, I call upon the people to be peaceful always, not just in Plateau state but, the country at large, because, with peace, we can make progress, as a people and a nation.
“For us leaders, I implore us to always do what is right. We know times are hard now but, let’s not blame anyone rather, we should seek the face of God Almighty through genuine prayers.
“The fear of God as a people will always help the nation, so I call on the people to also put the fear of God first and above all”, he stated.
