Rev. M.D. Adams, the Plateau State Secretary of the Action Democratic Party has stated that the ADP does not see the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a challenger in any election to be conducted in the state but the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to the scribe, the ADP came prepared for the APC and not for the PDP since, the APC has already displaced the PDP in the political affairs of the state.
He said, “With the force with which the APC came and toppled the PDP, we rather came prepared for the APC.”
Rev. Adams in part said:
“I disagree that the ADP has not been having any political activities in Plateau state, this because, the party in the state has been engaging itself in one activity or the other in the state before and after it was registered, as a political party in Nigeria by INEC.
“On a daily basis, the party’s offices at the state, in the 17 Local Government (LGAs) of Plateau State and at the Ward levels have been engaging themselves with one activity or the other, with the aim of strategizing to give the party a competitive advantage over the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
“Our programmes in the state are now attracting a lot of politicians to the party and communities in the state. If you observed, in the last few weeks, we have been visited by a lot of communities and NGOs. They have continued to come to assess and commend the party.
“These programmes have been helpful. You should know that ADP does not have the delegate system of election but, the Option A4 kind of primaries. That is why most of our programmes have continued to attract the interest of Plateau People and they have been coming in large numbers to pick the party’s form to register as members.
“As a party, the ADP is aware of the kind of force that the APC adopted in toppling the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), hence we have come very prepared, however, not to see the PDP as a challenger but, the APC and how to seize power from them in the state and at the national level.
“Our focus therefore as a party for now, is to participate in the forthcoming LGC polls, so that, we can bring down the APC first at that level.”
