By: Valentine Adese,
Tomorrow’s visit of Ohaneze Ndigbo delegation to Gombe State, led by Chief Nnia Nwodo, may not only be historic alone, as it would provided a more formal opportunity, to establish a path for a closer working relationship between the Igbos in Gombe and the other ethnic groups in the state. The visit would afford the Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, an opportunity to also show case the potentials of the state to the people of Southeastern Nigeria, who may want to invest in the state.
Although the visit is expected to bring both parties to a round table, to talk more on the desired peace in the country, after the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) clash with the Nigerian Army at Abia State and the reprisal in some other states, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, the Talban Gombe, an astute politician, would be expected to use the opportunity, to educate the delegation of the achievements of his administration since he assumed office as governor of the state on 29th May, 2011.
It is a fact that Governor Dankwambo is one, among the Governors in the country that have continued to respect and recognize the right of the masses, which includes that of the Igbo people in Gombe state.
Facts also available is that, one of the Governors in the federating 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja that have continued to respected the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) is the Talban Gombe, Governor Ibrahim Damkwambo, by his political will to providing democratically elected structures in the Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
This he must be proud of and tell the visiting Ohaneze Ndigbo, led by its President-General, Chief Nnia Nwodo.
As a proud Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholder, it is also expected that the Governor would use the opportunity to sell the PDP to the visiting Ohaneze team and continue to drum it to them on why their loyalty for the party should be enhanced, as the country moves towards 2019.
