A group indigenous to Kantana Constituency on Friday, through a press statement, dated 7th September, 2017, made available to REALITY, has stated that, Governor Lalong is making History in the local government and the state at large, as he takes a bold political and significant step in awarding the contract for the construction of Dengi to Wawus Zubargat road to RicRock Construction, Nigeria Limited.
According to group while expressing their happiness concerning the contract, stated that, “It is indeed a thing of joy to the entirety of the people of Kanam LGA and a dream come true, particularly, for the people of Kantana Constituency.”
On his part, while also commending Governor Lalong, during a telephone interview with REALITY, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi stated that:
“I am particularly grateful to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, for being a man of honour and integrity, as he fulfill his promise to me!
“He has made this promise to me, as an individually on countless number of occasions that, he would construct this particular road before the expiration of his current mandate in 2019.”
“I remember vividly after the wedding of our colleague and member representing Mikang Constituency in Kaduna, where I place a call to the Governor, he reassured me of his promise to construct the road. He said the road is very significant to the Local Government and the state at large, considering its strategic importance to the economic development of Kanam LGA and the well being of its people.
“Governor Lalong also told me during the conversation then that, even just for the spirit of his late Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Usman Zumunta, while he held sway as the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, he will construct the road.”
Hon. Gagdi yusuf, despite his efforts of trying to lobby for the award of the road, said, his efforts were constantly geared by the Emir of Kanam, who would not stop putting him and his colleague representing Dengi Constituency on their toes.
He said, “The Emir of Kanam, will never be forgotten in this eulogy for challenging us, myself and the member representing Dengi Constituency, to ensure we befriend the Government in order to attract development to our people, rather than antagonizing it for either political or personal reasons.
“I am personally glad today, that I listened to his fatherly advice and the call of my people in Kantana Constituency to change party. This singular decision is now playing a critical role in the local government, of which the road construction is one.
“My colleague, the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Saleh Shehu Yipmong, has been a great team player in this pursuit. He has been very collaborative right from when I was holding his current position and today God has exalted him to the same position.
“Our relationship has always been brotherly in the pursuit of the overall interest and development of Kanam LGA, as their representatives at the state legislature. Our personal interests have never impeded our desires for the general good of our people.”
While thanking the Governor, Rt. Hon. Gagdi said:
“We remain indebted to the Executive Governor of Plateau State for extending this developmental stride to our people and we look forward to the official flagging off of the construction work on the site.
“Our people, the people of Kanam, will remain indebted to the government for this magnanimity, and we pledge our support to your rescue administration, as you continue the rescue mission on the Plateau.
“I have already met the Governor on behalf of the people of Kanam and particularly Kantana Constituency to thank him.”
You would recall that Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, had told the world that, he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in order to make the Governor construct this road and meet up other demands for his Constituency.
