The Government of
Anambra State has declared the 1st of February 2018, as a work for
free day to enable Ndi Anambra and well-wishers to pay their last respects to
the late Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme.
In
a press statement signed by Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, the Secretary to the
Government of Anambra State, said the work free day is part of the funeral
arrangements for the late Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“Please note
that Thursday, February 1st, 2018 is work free day in Anambra state. All
markets and businesses will be closed on that day to enable Ndi Anambra,
friends, associates and well-wishers to pay our last respects to the late Vice
President”. The statement stated.
Adding
that, "A state commendation ceremony will hold on the 1st of February,
2018, at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka by 10 am."
The
statement went further to advice all those attending the commendation ceremony
including various social, cultural, religious, political, professional,
educational, market men and women, and all other groups are to be seated by
10AM prompt.
