By: Valentine Adese,
It is no longer news that the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simong Lalong has sacked his Commissioners this morning, through a press release signed by Samuel, Emmanuel Nanle, the Director, Press and Public Affairs, and dated today, the 8th of February, 2018.
What is news are the untold stories surrounding the Commissioners and their alleged poor performances in office that has, to a large extent, kept the Lalong-led administration begging for existence.
You would recall that, while the Governor was dissolving the State Executive Cabinet in the press release, as signed by Mr. Emmanuel Nanle, The Governor expresses his sincere appreciation to the Honourable Commissioners, for their selfless service and immense contributions in delivering to the people of Plateau State, the Dividends of Democracy and in engendering hope in the All Progress Congress (APC) led Administration in the State.
The Governor had also wished the Commissioners the best in their future endeavours, while assuring them that, “as stakeholders in the Plateau Project, their wealth of experience would continuously be relied upon in building the Plateau of our dream.”
Governor Lalong, further called on them not to relent in availing their services when called upon in the future to serve the State, as he directs them to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries in their respective Ministries.
However, Contrary to the governor’s wishes for them, civil servants in Plateau state have already started celebrating their sack from office.
In most Ministries in Plateau State Secretariat visited by REALITY, most junior staff are already gathering money to cause the celebration of their exit and sack.
Although political watchers in the state, have restrained themselves from putting the entire blame of their poor performance and poor human relations purely on the door steps of the out gone Commissioners, they alluded to the fact that, the Governor should also share 50% of these blames.
They opined that, “How can the Governor expected them to perform when he hardly gives them their statutory Overheads? They are in government to serve and not to use their personal funds to run their various Ministries.
“Secondly, the Governor also knows that most of the requests of these Commissioners concerning activities in their Ministries were usually turned down by the Ministry of Finance, especially, at the Accountant-General’s office. So, with this kind of environment, can people expected them to perform? The Governor should take the blame of not assisting the Commissioners on this!”
However, despite these arguments in favour of the Commissioners, Civil and Non-Civil Servants, who are already preparing for their various celebrations, told REALITY that, most of the sacked Commissioners were never serious with their work.
They said they were hardly in office and when they come in the evening, they were more concerned about the Women they came with or that they are waiting for.
CIVIL SERVANTS IN MOST MINISTRIES IN PART SAID:
“Most of these Commissioners can spend the whole working hours of a day discussing with their girlfriends. Even when there is no fuel in the Ministry’s official vehicles, they are willing to part with N10, 000.00 to N25,000.00 just to buy stimulating drugs that would assist them in sleeping with the girls they bring or invite to the office during odd hours.
“Our happiness is that they have been removed because, they are, to a large extent, the problem of this Governor Lalong’s administration.
“Few days ago we heard most of them boosting of being in office for the next 6 years but, little did they know that this calamity would befall them.”
“We are going to celebrate this action of the Governor because, these sacked Commissioners, have no human face. They are stingy, tightfisted and blackmailers. They always want us to hate the Governor as a man that is not paying them hence they have nothing to give to motivate the staff in the various ministries working with them.”
