The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau state chapter has commended the recent visit of Rivers State Governor, Nysom Wike to Benue State, to commiserate with Governor Ortom over the recent killing of 73 people by herdsmen and called on Governor Simon Bako Lalong to do same.
Hon. D.T Sango, Chairman Plateau State PDP, in a Press Release dated 8th February 2018, signed by the chapter's Publicity Secretary, Hon. John Akans, described Wike’s show of solidarity despite the difference in political platforms, as a man “Full of divine potential and compassion for Nigerians”.
According to Hon. D.T. Sango, “This solidarity visit has depicted Governor Wike as a man full of divine potential and compassion for Nigerians. You are indeed a leader, who thinks and acts like a true leader.”
The text in part reads:
“We believe as a party that Governor Wike’s action was motivated by the content of leadership spirit in him as a true Nigerian who believes in a united Nigeria.”
“Your Excellency, we thank you for sharing in the pains of the government and people of Benue state and indeed Nigeria despite the difference of political platforms between you and Governor Ortom”.
“This demonstration of love proves you can stand for the security, peace and justice for every Nigerian irrespective of where they come from”.
“This visit sir has built bridges across all divided lines and has promoted trust and a harmonious co-existence between our people”.
The PDP Chairman also used the Press Release to call on the Governor of Plateau state, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong to also pay a visit to Benue State and Governor Ortom.
“PDP therefore calls on Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State to emulate this exemplary leadership spirit of Governor Wike”. Sango stated.
