Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi state yesterday described the death of Senator Ali Wakili, as a monumental loss to the nation, especially, in the struggle to promote the evolution of a democratic culture.
 This is contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Al-Sadique.

“Sen Wakili, was someone who contributed immensely to Legislative business and he ensured that his views always reflected the interests of those he represented.” The statement stated. 

Governor Abubakar said, “Personally, we had respect for each other, and he will always be remembered among those, who have the interests of his constituents and the nation in general”.

The Governor noted that, “I lost a brother and a friend with whom I shared a relationship for nearly four decades. Although we disagree sometimes in order to agree.”

Governor Abubakar, prayed God to grant the Senator eternal rest and give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

The Governor also declared three days to mourn the death of the Senator by reducing working hours by two hours across the state.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress, APC Bauchi state has expressed its deepest shock over the Senator’s death, describing it as a great loss not only to Bauchi state alone but, the country as a whole.

The Secretary of the party in the state, Alhaji Buhari Disina said, "The news is actually a shocking one as you journalists would say, ‘Breaking News’.

“This is a very serious matter to us in the state and the community he represents. We lost a big figure, which we cannot even explain or express in words how we feel about his sudden death.”

The party's Secretary further said that, the Senator can best be described by his service to his people, Bauchi state and the country in general, while emphasizing that, “Senator Ali Wakili was somebody who was good to his people and the party in the state. "He was as good as anything you can think of as good".

Also speaking at the late Senator's residence, Mohammed Hassan, expressed shock over news of the death of the Senator, saying The Senator's death was quite shocking to the party and the politicians' associates.

“I know of somebody who spoke with Wakili and received the news five minutes later that the senator has died. This is one of the biggest loss in the history of APC in Bauchi state. We pray God to help us pass this test because it is a very big test to our party, APC. We have never had a Senator like Wakili in Bauchi state, who has touched the lives of many people positively particularly the poor and the less privileged, Hassan said.
