A group in Plateau state, under the aegis of “Concern for Development in Plateau State”, have joined other Nigerians, especially, Plateau people to heartily welcome the Nigerian President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari to the State.
You would recall that the President is expected in Plateau State for a working visit. He is also expected during his one-day stay to, inspect and commission some road networks which include the Mararaba Jama’a expressway, Low-cost Miango-Rafiki road network, and the fly-over at the Secretariat junction. President Buhari will also inspect the Unguwar Rogo – Alikazaure bridge under construction. The Agric sector which is one of the new normal in the policy thrust of the government will witness a significant push as President Buhari launches 400 tractors purchased for distribution.
The group in a press release made available to REALITY this morning said the visit of the President to the state has several significances to the people, socio-economically, politically and also, expresses the importance of the people in the heart of the Governor and the President.
The group however, urged the President to give listening ears to the people, as he attends the planned town hall meeting.
According to them, “this will give the President a better informed position of the issues, needs, challenges and desires of the people.”
The press release however, carpeted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in the state for attempting to only paint a gloomy picture of the state to Mr. President.
According to them, the PDP is yet to come to terms and understanding of the words, Project Initiation and Project Completion nor is the party willing to appreciate the meaning and difference between Project Flag-off and Project Commissioning.
The Group in Their Statement in Part States:
“We wish to state here that the PDP must learn to appreciate that life moves forward and not backwards and that the good people of Plateau state must move forward in this regard too!
“We want to also call on the PDP to be humble to appreciate that there is a difference between project initiation and project completion and must therefore appreciate Governor Simon Bako Lalong when the party knows the difference between project flag-off and project commissioning.
“If the above is observed by the party, we then wish to call on its members to join the larger number of Plateau people to warmly welcome Mr. President to the state, as initiating the process of peace and achieving a state of peace by the administration of Governor Lalong are not the same.”
“We must show respect to our brother, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong for achieving this laudable feat in a very short time.
“A second term for him will not be a mistake!”
“Welcome Mr. President to Plateau, the Home of Peace and Tourism!”
