In less than two weeks in a row, The Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong has been commended for commissioning projects in his state, paying salaries to workers and making peace a cardinal objective of his administration.
President Muhammadu Buhari, had two weeks ago, commended Governor Lalong, for the projects he spent his two day working visit to commission and the political will of the Governor to pay workers of the state their salaries despite the challenges and competitive demands before him.
Today, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has commended the Governor for making peace a cardinal objective of his administration.
The IG who stated this during the Ground Breaking ceremony for the establishment of, the 66 Nigeria Police Mobile Squadron in Shendam and the formal presentation of security vehicles to some agencies in Shendam, Plateau State called on other Governors to emulate Governor Lalong.
The IG also commended the Governor for donating the large expanse of land, to the police and for security purposes, while enjoining others to emulate the same gesture, the IG further appreciated the Plateau state government for equipping the State Command with communication gadgets.
In order to improve on the quality of policing, the IG charged members of the police force to respect citizens rights.
Earlier in his welcoming address, Gov Simon Lalong paid glowing tributes to the Inspector General for his dedication and commitment to securing lives and property.
According to Lalong "We say you are working!"
The Governor, reemphasized on the need for intensified vigilance and community participation towards lasting peace.
He thanked the Inspector General for bringing Police closer to the people.
The peak of the ceremony was the IG performed the ground breaking ceremony, which was proceeding by the hoisting of the Nigeria Police Force flag in company of Governor Simon Lalong and other dignitaries.
The highlight of the occasion was the commissioning of 51 security vehicles, after which the IG personally drove one of the vehicles in company of Gov Simon Lalong to the delight of all guests, who gave them a standing ovation.
According to the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Yakubu Dati, who spoke to REALITY in a telephone interview, “the occasion was historical.”
