It is now on historical record that, President Muhammadu Buhari visited Plateau State during the era of Governor Simon Bako Lalong, to commission projects and also that the President, listened to the people’s needs, desires and expectations.
It is also a fact that the President visited some planned places for project commissioning and that people came out to receive him in those specific areas.
But, what is not made known to the general public is that, the Local Organizing Committee’s (LOC) plans for the visit of Mr. President were drastically altered by “Abuja men”.
The, no movement order, the unprecedented reduction of media personnel to cover the President’s visit, the no-picture taking (snapping) of the President, among others, were not plans from the blueprint of the LOC but, an intrusion into their well planned reception.
The inability of the President to visit some parts of Jos North, the Central and Southern Senatorial Zones, were also an alteration of the Master Visiting Plan of the LOC for the two day’s working visit of President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to findings, the President could not go or visit some of these areas, owing to alleged security reasons, which were beyond the information the LOC could receive or handle.
Reports on that very day of the President’s visit from Bokkos and Bassa LGAs that were not told was that, the attacks on villagers from the LGAs had left many dead and others injured.
In all, the call of Governor Simon Lalong, for the President to compensate by refunding the money so far spent on federal road projects being commissioned to the state and the promise of the President, in response, to speed up the request is also an untold part of the visit.
Pundits are of the views that, if the federal government makes the refunds as promised, the historical visit would be a blessed one for the state and would continue to be in the normal discuss in the everyday life of the Plateau people.
