ALFRED SAIKI OF REALITY NEWSPAPERS, EMERGES AS NEW VICE CHAIRMAN (VC) OF SWAN, PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER

Journalist and retired football referee Alfred Saiki of Reality Newspapers and currently presenter of City Sports Drive on Tin City 104.3FM Jos, has been inaugurated as the new Vice Chairman (VC) of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Plateau State Chapter by the EXCO of the state chapter.

Alfred Saiki is expected to deputize the incumbent Chairman of the body, Thaddeus Yilmen of Plateau Radio Television Corporation (PRTVC).


Polycarp Auta of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as well as MaklekYaksat of PRTVC were also appointed to serve as Financial Secretary and Internal Auditor.

The appointments and inauguration were done to fill the vacant positions within the association at an extra-ordinary congress held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat on Thursday in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated EXCO members, Alfred Saiki thanked congress for finding them worthy to serve the state chapter of SWAN. He urged members to be more united, considering the recent experiences SWAN in Plateau state had passed through lately.

Aside the appointments, series of resolutions were also arrived at during the congress and amongst these resolutions, was the issue of dues, which would now be paid monthly, rather than the previous yearly remittance, with effect from June 2018.

The congress agreed on the resolution hoping that it would assist the Chapter in carrying out its activities, as and when due.
