By: Valentine Adese and Reuben Egbah,
As preparations for the forthcoming Primary election in all the registered political parties in the country continues in order to meet up with the August 2018 deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission, focus is now on the female aspirant in Plateau State for the Governorship contest under the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Pastor Margaret Inusa.
You would recall that after the charged contest of Dame Pauline Tallen (former Deputy Governor of Plateau state under then Governor Jang’s led administration) for the governorship seat in Plateau state, Must female (women) politician have continued to shy away from contesting for that seat.

Surprisingly, Pastor Margaret has explained in an exclusive interview with REALITY at her office today that, she is not coming to contest for the governorship seat as just a lady but, as someone with capacity and willingness to change the narrative of governance in Plateau state.

She said, “My selling point is my capacity, ability and competence to do the job if given the opportunity and not my gender.”
Adding that, “I am coming to change the narrative of the constant failures the state has recorded with respect to leadership since it was created. I want to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, the hope and the hopeless. I want to come and fill the gap between the leaders and the lead (the masses).

“Leading is my way of life. I come from a humble background. Have trekked and traded on the street like many others and have driven the process of success to this point. I may not be a long standing and renowned politician but I am the lady Trump that has come to rescue the state if given the opportunity.

Pastor Margaret said her vision had for years been how to make people happy and industrious hence she has been working with several non-governmental organizations and build peoples capacity through various media programs in the state.
According to her, she intends to run for the governorship race in Plateau State under the ADP because, “the party has the best manifesto, especially, its option A4 policy of the party”

Pastor Margaret said, “As we approach the primary election in my party, I want the members to know that I am the way to a better Plateau.”

You would recall that REALITY had reported that from the All Progressive Party (APC) chapter in Plateau state, only Governor Simon Bako Lalong, the incumbent Governor of the state,  has indicated interest to vie for the governorship seat.

While at the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Plateau state chapter, Pastor Margaret Inusa is becoming the first female aspirant to express her interest formally to contest.

On the platform of the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party’s record as it stand today, shows that, Prof. Shedrack Best, Hon. Caleb Muffuang, Sen. J. T. Useni, Barr Timothy Parlong, Sen. Victor Lar, have written letters to the state chapter of the party, expressing their interest for the number one seat of the state.

Others under the platform of the PDP that have written the party also include: Mr. Timothy Basso, and Hon. EXO Pyennap.
