The once silent and peaceful Mista’ali community in Bassa Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau state seems to have started experiencing its own share of attacks by armed men in Nigerian security uniforms.

Through the weekend the people of the community have been protesting against the level of insecurity and attacks by armed men in security uniforms that have been breaking into their homes without a corresponding check of their activities by security men available and posted to the community.

They have also protested against the level of silences from the administration in the state despite their outcry over the level of insecurity in the community.

It is of note that Mista’ali is a community 10km to Jos city, the capital of Plateau State

According to the report available to REALITY News desk, the people of Mista'ali Community on, 22/4/2018 at between 9:30 and 11:30 AM, staging a riot against the laxity of security agents.

The report has it that, for the past weeks they have not been sleeping because of armed thieves allegedly in both Police and Military uniforms terrorizing the community.

From the accounts of the residents of Mista’ali, they stated that, “Two days ago, the armed thieves entered a house, not far from a Police station and Military check point, and machete a resident to death.”

They said the security agents were alerted while the killing and armed robbery were going on but there was no response.

According to them, “The police said they had no fuel in their car and the soldiers said it was not one of their mandates to go after armed robbers.”

Adding that, “Last night the residents of both Mista'ali and Gurum towns in Bassa LGA did not sleep because of gun shots by armed bandits who operated in security uniforms. That is why today, we are staging a peaceful demonstration to protest the high level of insecurity in the area and the insensitivity of the Plateau state government to our plight despite all our public cry over this criminal and condemnable development.”

However, while the demonstration was going on REALITY gathered that two Police patrol vehicles showed up to dispel the demonstrators.

The police had to retreat, as the rioters stoned the Police vans in protests. It took the intervention of the Military, who came and opened the major Zaria road, which had been blocked by the demonstrators.

More details to come. Stay with us!
