The Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Yakubu Dati has advocated for the inclusion of Plateau State Tourism sites to be parts of national and international hubs and destination for its diverse cultural potential to boost the revenue generation of the country.
Speaking to Journalists, shortly after the declaration of NATOP AGM 2018 general meeting held at Hill station Hotel, Jos on Monday, Mr. Dati said, the state should be listed as a choice state in the country’s tourism hubs, in order to promote the nation’s diverse cultural and socio-political cooperation in the country, which would later serve as a means of providing employment to the youths.
He stressed that, “the choice of the city is part of government’s efforts at promoting Plateau destination within the states by partnering with the private sectors to encourage participation.”
According to him, the meeting which had attracted wide range of stakeholders in tourist trade, urges delegates from around the states to provide unique opportunity for global visibility for Plateau as a key player in the tourism industry and owing to its developmental potential.
Hon. Yakubu Dati, commended the tour agents, NATOP for deeming it necessary to make Plateau state choice of innovative ideas, strategic thinking and efforts to increase the credibility and visibility of the city in world map of tourism development.
He explained that, “a way forward for the promotion of housing in Nigeria, we want you to experience the accommodative nature of Plateau people and its entertainment industrial fruits, vegetables and a host to others.”
The Commissioner described the state as a home of tourism in the country with abundant deposit of rich temperate weather and the largest non-man made tourist sites such as, Wase Rock, Riyom Rock, Kura falls and the diverse cultural potentials, which have remained untapped.
Meanwhile, The Commissioner for Tourism and Hospitality Business, Mrs. TamwakatWali said, Plateau had a lot of tourist sites to attract income for the youths across boys and girls.
She noted that the state is able to create more employment and career prospect for the country and also increase the country’s foreign exchange.
