The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has praised Civil Servants in the state for their selfless service to the state and the nation at large.

Chief Willie, while hailing the contributions of workers towards improving the standard of the state also tasked workers to be more dedicated to their duties. 

The governor made this request during the May-Day (workers day) celebration in the state yesterday.

Governor Obiano, who was represented by his Deputy Dr. Nkem Okeke at the May-Day (workers day) celebration jointly organized by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square Awka, reminded workers on the need to be good citizens of the country.

While predicting better days for the workers in the state, the governor encouraged workers not to give up on the struggle towards nation building which he said was not just the responsibility of government but a collective effort.
Comrade Jerry Nnubia JP, State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Anambra State Council, expressed delight over the hard working Governor of the state. He used the opportunity in calling on the Governor to use the second tenure to putting more smiles on the faces of workers in the state in recognition of the massive support he received through their votes in the last election.

The State NLC Chairman hailed labour movement for their sacrifices to the nation which he said will hardly be overlooked.

Comrade Nnubia concluded by listing poverty, corruption, starvation, exploitation, terrorism among others as some of the challenges been faced by members.

State Chairman, Trade Union Congress of Nigeria Anambra State Council, Comrade Ifeanyi Okechukwu, in his address said, “This year workers day in the state is extraordinary in the sense that we are celebrating good governance and the struggle put on by our veteran fathers who fought and died for the emancipation of workers".
