By: Valentine Adese and Reuben Egbah,
The All Progressive Congress (APC) has registered a lot of frustrating scenes, infighting and open insult as it conducted Ward Congresses across the country last weekend.

Sad tales came through the media from Kogi, Rivers, Imo, Kano, Bauchi, and Ekiti states.

In Plateau state, though reported peaceful, the aggrieved persons have continued to use the social media to express their grievances.

Unconfirmed reports have it that those who bought forms for the exercise did not receive them, as they were allegedly hijacked.

It is also reported that instead of the expected electioneering processes, the directive of the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong to affirm interested members was adopted.

According to most of the aggrieved, who spoke to REALITY, the affirmation to the best of their knowledge “has thwarted the ambition of any new person that is hoping to vie for any elective post in the state, as the EXCOs at the ward level were openly returned in favour of the powers that be.”

You would recall that mid last month, a group under the aegis of APC Concern Stakeholders had sounded an alarm that the directive given by the Governor was contrary to that given by the national leadership of the party.

They had threatened to leave the party if the Governor’s alleged directive to only affirm is adopted.

As at the time of writing this story, the entire state is calm and the party offices of the APC are under lock and key, as most of the officers have not returned to office after the exercise.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state has mocked the APC, while in audience with REALITY, saying, “Is this the change they promised Nigerians? What has changed in this? When people and political parties are allowing democratic principles to hold and take its rightful position, the APC is still adopting the imposition of candidate(s) that the PDP had rejected years ago.”
