The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has debunked the rumour making the rounds that the party had organized people to protest against the arraignment of a former governor of the state, Da. Jonah Jang, who now represents the Plateau Northern Senatorial District at the National Assembly, as a Senator, at the Plateau State High Court yesterday.
In an unplanned exclusive interview with the State Organizing Secretary of the Party, Hon. G. Yakubu today, he expressed surprise that people are already alleging that the protest was sponsored by the state chapter of the party.
“We were surprised when we saw the mammoth crowd protesting in support over the non-arraignment of the former governor yesterday. We were also surprised that they decided to express and show their grievance to the state chairman of the PDP. We were all here when it happened. If it were a party thing, why would I as the organizing Secretary of the party not be aware?
“From what I see and witnessed, people who love Sen. Jang, were dissatisfied with his non-arraignment yesterday, while others were moved to show their love to Sen. Jang, despite the efforts of the government and its agency the EFCC, to rubbish him.
“How do you evaluate the actions of the EFCC against the arrest and detention of a serving Senator, why is it that the rule of law and the constitution are not been obeyed?
“I believe what the people of Plateau are saying with the protest, is that the rule of law should be obeyed. How many hours do they want to keep the Senator before arraigning him? These are actually sad times!
“Well for your information, the Chairman of the party had advised the protesters to remain law abiding as good citizens.”
However, joining his voice with that of the PDP, the State Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Chief Nanyah Daman, in an exclusive interview in his office in Jos with REALITY, said the arrest and prosecution of the former governor is more political than for the masses benefit.
He said from the allegation trumped against the Senator Jonah Jang by the government were more related to misappropriation rather than looting of the state funds.
“That is why we in the ADP expect that the alleged misappropriation should be valued against the administrations activities to know of the masses benefited. Because the fundamental reason(s) for governing the people is security and welfare of the masses.
“That is why I hold that it is mere intimidation and a reason for the APC administration to curry favour and sympathy from the people of the state.
“I also see this strategy as failing like others. We the ADP are the alternative to all this PDP and APC wahala!” Chief Nanyah Stated.
You recall that the Nigerian Intervention Movement (NIM), a movement being led by Agbakoba (SAN), Mr. Talil Tafawa Balawa, Mr. Wale Che Oguniye, have yesterday adopted ADP plateau state chapter as a party to work with towards the next general elections.
All the above names represented by Barr. Hadiza Maina who came to assess the Plateau state ADP chapter yesterday, gave a pass mark to all they evaluated.
From REALITY findings, this may indicates that, all NIM members would in the shortest time be identifying themselves it the ADP to garner votes towards changing the country and the existing administration.
