Youths under the aegis of “COALITION OF INDIGENOUS YOUTHS’ NATIONALITIES OF PLATEAU STATE have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make hast to appoint a Minister for Plateau State.

The youths made this call during a press briefing at the NUJ Press Center today on the upcoming Nationwide Protest.

The youths lamented that the non-presence of a Minister form Plateau State in the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has continued to prevent the President from knowing of the happenings in the state and how to intervene.

1.      PREAMBLE

After a careful review and consideration of the state of the nation, particularly the prevailing economic realities in terms of galloping inflation, unemployment, insecurity, crime and poverty, as well as, the current clamor for a Nationwide Protest, the Coalition of Indigenous Youths Organization in Plateau State wishes to make its position clear.

PLATEAU: YOUTHS’ COALITION SHUN CALL FOR NATIONAL PROTEST

Youths under the aegis of Coalition of Youth Leaders of Plateau State Communities have condemned and shunned the call for a National Protest in Nigeria.

The Youths in a press conference today at the NUJ Press Center, Plateau State, submitted that the call is suspicious as the sponsors are yet to identify themselves.

The Coalition’s press test signed by one Pololis Gyang the youth leader from Rock Haven also said the call is suspicious as the motive behind the protest is not also clear.

A strong member and a major stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has called on Nigerian Youths to have a rethinking and disregard the call for the upcoming planned nationwide protest, but rather, continue to think of how the country and its people can be reunited again.

In his message titled: “A Call to Nigeria's Youth: Let Us Choose Peace!” ESV Podar Johnson Yiljwan, urged the youths not to fall for those who seek to exploit the current economic frustrations for their personal gains.

Hon. Podar in his message to the youths in Nigeria, made available to REALITY, called on the youths to join hands to address pressing issues in the country like, Banditry, Kidnapping, Religious extremism, Regional and Tribal divisions, Economic inequality, Political exploitation, among others.

PLATEAU: PDP’S ELDERS COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN APPEALS FOR PEACEFUL SATURDAY'S CONGRESSES

Chairman of the Elders Committee of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau State chapter, Chief Raymond Dabo has urged officials, delegates and aspirants to uphold the discipline and good conduct members of the party are known for during the coming Saturday's Congresses across the state.

Chief Dabo in a statement he personally signed explained that the Saturday’s Congresses are one leg of the democratic process with many more opportunities to accommodate those aspiring for positions.

NASARAWA: GOVERNMENT ADVISES YOUTHS TO EMBRACE DIALOGUE RATHER THAN PROTEST

Nasarawa State Government has advised youths in the country to embrace the spirit of dialogue with government rather than protest in resolving and solving the current economic hardship in the country.

The state government said, “No matter the level of hardship Nigerians are going through as a result of the current economic downturn, dialogue rather than confrontation still remains the best solution”.

The Senior Special Assistant to the State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, on Youths and Students’ Affairs, Mr. Shuaibu Sani, stated this at a One-Day, Youth and Students’ Stakeholders Engagement on Sustainable Peace in the state.

Gwandu, on 22^nd June 2017, in Suit No: NICN/JOS/47/2013, filed by Mr.  Reuben Awanye Itruma, challenging the stoppage of his salary and sack by the National Veterinary Research (NVRI) VOM and the Governing Council is yet to be obeyed by the Defendants till date. REALITY gathered.

You would recall that the Court of Appeal, Jos Division, had dismissed Appeal No: CA/J/276/2018, filed by NVIR, for being unmeritorious in its Judgment delivered on Tuesday, 8^th of August 2022.

This is coming, as the country is recording high cases of cholera which is ravaging the country.

You would recall that, REALITY had reported that, Hon. Edward G. Pwajok (SAN) has dragged one Mr. James Nyango to Court, over alleged libellous publications on his Facebook page on the 16^th of January 2024, and that the Suit No: PLD/J322/2024 is coming up for hearing on the 19^th day of September 2024 at the Plateau State High Court Jos.

Below are the claims of the Claimant as filed before the Court.

Before approaching and filing Suit No: PLD/J322/2024, Hon. Edward Pwajok (SAN), had asked, Mr. James Nyango, whether they had any personal relationship before the alleged libelous publications. REALITY gathered from the Court processes.  

In a letter dated 23^rd January 2024, written and addressed to Mr. James, Hon. Pwajok (SAN) had also asked the Defendant whether they had any disagreement to warrant publications,  maliciously aimed at tearing his hard-earned reputation apart.

Hon. Edward G. Pwajok (SAN) has dragged one Mr. James Nyango, a Civil Servant working with Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) to Court over an alleged defamatory publication, and demanding the sum of N250,000,000.00 (Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) only, as “General Damages”.

The case from the Court’s record is coming up for hearing on the 19^th of September 2024, at the Plateau State High Court Jos.

According to the processes filed by Hon. Pwajok (SAN) in Court in Suit No: PLD/J322/2024, against Mr. James Nyango, a Director in JUTH, and an alleged member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), from the same ethnic group with him, over the alleged defamatory publication in his post on his Facebook page on the 16^th of January 2024, Hon. Pwajok claims that the libelous publication has caused huge pain and distress to him and his family members.

After Three (3) years of managing Plateau Club Jos by its Board of Trustees (BoT), Comrade Banchir K. Jibrin has emerged as its President, unopposed.

The much awaited swearing-in ceremony of the new Executive Committee to managed Plateau Club Jos, was stalled by Security Operatives today. REALITY gathered.

You would recall that the Club since the Covid era has been managed by the Board of Trustees (BoT) and the vacuum became necessary to be filled hence the setup of an Electoral Body.

REALITY gathered that the members were surprise to see the presence of the police in the premises while they were preparing for the swearing-in.

On inquiry, the members felt bad that the security did not only come to the Club to stop the ceremony, but to seal the premises. REALITY was told.

The Governor of Plateau State, Barr Caleb Mutfwang has personally visited Saint Academy where students were killed and others sustained several degrees of injuries because of the collapsed school building.

At the scene, the Governor disagreed and rejected the explanation of the Principal of the School that they were not aware of the danger because the build never showed any sign.

To enforce the States Executive Order 003, the Governor has closed down the school and order more investigation into the immediate and remote course(s) of the collapse.

SUPERFINE FURNITURE VS YAKUBU C. JANG: COURT ORDERS PARTIES TO MAINTAIN STATUS QUO AS YAKUBU PLEADS “NOT GUILTY”

The case between Superfine Furniture and Yakubu C. Jang, at the Plateau State Chief Magistrate Court, Giring Abattoir in Jos, has been adjourned to the 5^th of August 2024 for hearing, after the Defendant, Yakubu Jang, pleaded “Not Guilty” to the charge.  

You would recall that REALITY had reported that the matter had been adjourned from 10^th May 2024 to 10^th June 2024 because there was no proof of service of the Court’s Summons on the Defendant but later fixed for 9^th July 2024 for Mention.

The Court while adjourning the matter to the 5^th of August 2024 had ordered all parties to maintain Status Quo, pending the determination of the case.

For any administration to run effectively, and successfully, and leave a lasting impact on the people it is governing its goals, ideology, and vision, must be on the same page with the people.

Although the people being governed are more concerned about their safety and welfare, they are not unconcerned about the country or state’s development. They are also not unconcerned about the political system and the application of Democratic Principles.

Any political party that wins in an election apart from the known manipulations in Nigeria, it is because the party and its candidates considered the necessary issue(s) sensitive to the masses and they remained on the same page with the masses before, during, and after the elections.
