NASARAWA STATE: GOV. SULE IS SET TO PAY NEW MINIMUM WAGE, CONDUCT LG ELECTIONS

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has blamed the delay in the implementation of the new #70,000 Minimum Wage to the Nasarawa State’s Civil Servants due to the request of the state’s Labour Leaders.

The Governor said, the state’s Labour Leaders have demanded that the State Government should pay all promotion arrears of salaries that have been pending for several years before implementing the new salary structure for the state’s workforce.

The Governor, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba, during a monthly media press briefing today Monday, however, made an assurance that his administration has since completed the settlement of salary arrears that have  been pending even before he took over the mantle of leadership of the state.

This call for individuals and communities to join hands with the Commission was made by, Mrs. Olivia Dazyam, the Chairperson of the Commission in a press brief to mark the International Day for Universal Access to Information, in the Commission’s office today.

The Plateau State Gender and Equal Opportunity Commission (PLASGEOC) has secured its first conviction, while so many other cases of sexual and gender-based violence are being prosecuted in Courts.

This feat of the Commission was disclosed today by Mrs. Olivia Dazyam, the Chairperson of the Commission, during a press briefing to mark, “The International Day for Universal Access to Information” at the Commission’s office.

The Chairman of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLSIEC), Hon. NASARAWA: AGAIN, PRESIDENT TINUBU’S WIFE BOOSTS THE ECONOMIC STRENGTH OF RURAL WOMEN

In a bid to boost the economic strength of Rural Women in the country, the wife of Nigerian’s President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has shared the sum of Fifty Thousand (#50,000) Naira, to One Thousand (1,000) women, each in Nasarawa State. 

In a message at the colourful ceremony held at Government House Lafia, Senator Oluremi, insisted and directed that the money is strictly meant for Rural Women, whom she said, “are the worst affected by the current economic downturn”.

At the hearing of Suit No: PLD/J322/2024, filed by Hon. Edward Pwajok (SAN), against Hon. James Nyango at the Plateau State  High Court, over alleged Libelous Publication against his person, the Court was told that the Defendant has not filed his defence.

The Counsel to the Claimant (E. G. Pwajok SAN) J. Y. Gwom (Esq), also told the Court that the Defendant did not also file his Questions and Answers for the Pre-hearing Session.

Although the matter was slated for Case Management Conference (CMC) yesterday, the 19th of September 2024, the Counsel to the Claimant urged the Court to enter Judgment in favour of the Claimant, as all indications shows that the Defendant is not ready and willing to defend based on the defaults.

PLATEAU: BREAKING: GOV. MUTFWANG, TO BUILD JOS/BUKURU VALUE CHAIN PROCESSING COMMODITY-MARKET

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has promised to build Jos/Bukuru Markets to be a major means of government’s policy to further boost the economy activities of the state. He has also promised to set aside, the sum of One Billions Naira for young entrepreneurs in state to enhance the processing and marketing of commodities.

BREAKING: PLATEAU STATE POLICE COMMAND PARADES ARRESTED SUSPECTS FOR THE OFFENCE OF CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, ATTEMPT TO KIDNAP, OTHERS

The Plateau State Command of the Nigerian Police, led by CP EMMANUEL OLUGBEMIGA ADESINA, psc, has arrested and paraded suspects for the offence of Criminal Conspiracy, Intimidation, Extortion and attempt to kidnap.

The Command during a press briefing addressed by the Commissioner of Police, CP EMMANUEL OLUGBEMIGA ADESINA, psc, at the Police Headquarters said, the arrests is as a result, determination and the  efforts of the Command toward fighting crime and criminality within the State.

Good afternoon members of the press, ladies and gentlemen.

I want to take out this time to appreciate the members of the press for cooperating with the Police, and for ensuring that you feed the good people of Plateau State with accurate information.

I also wish to appreciate the Government of Plateau State for the overwhelming support given to the Command.

To the good and peace loving citizens of Plateau State, I want to thank you for collaborating with us and feeding the command with accurate, timely and useful information which has helped us in our job of securing lives and properties.

I have called you here today, to intimate you and the general public of our efforts toward fighting crime and criminality within the State.

Below are some of our operational breakthroughs within the period under review:

ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR THE OFFENCE OF CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, INTIMIDATION, EXTORTION AND ATTEMPT TO KIDNAP

I am pleased to announce to you that the Plateau State Command under my leadership has arrested one suspect in connection to a kidnap attempt which was reported at Pankshin Division sometime on 20/02/2024. The Complainant, one Boniface Shiktuwa, male of Buzuk village, Pankshin LGA received a phone call from an unknown caller claiming that he has been paid the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000.00) only to eliminate him and his wife therefore he should give them a specific amount of money to avoid being killed. After much bargaining, the victim offered to pay the sum of Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (N800,000.00k) only but the caller refused, hence he reported to the Police.

Upon receiving the report, I directed the Officer in Charge, Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) to swing into action and as a result, one Alheri Isaac, male was arrested in connection with the crime. Interview of the suspect led to the arrest of one Abdulkadir Suleiman, male, 27 years old who is the leader of the syndicate. The case is still under investigation at the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and will be charged to Court upon completion of investigation.

ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR CRIMINAL INTIMIDATION, ATTEMPTED MURDER, KIDNAP AND EXTORTION

SUSPECTS
On 27/06/2024 at about 4pm where one Ifeanyi Edwin, male of Shendam LGA received a threat via GSM voice call and SMS threatening to kill him if he does not pay the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000.00k) only.

Upon receipt of the report, I directed the officer in Charge, Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) to mobilize his men and ensure that the person behind the phone call is tracked and arrested. We are happy to inform you today, that one Alexander Kukeve, male, 34 years old has been arrested in respect to a the kidnap attempt. During our interview with the suspect, he confessed to the crime. The case is still under investigation.

FOILED KIDNAP ATTEMPT, ARREST OF SUSPECT AND RECOVERY OF FIREARM

On 07/07/2024 at about 7PM, we received intelligence report informing the Command that on the same date, one Zaidu Mohammed, male, 24 years old trespassed into the house of one Ismail Mohammed who doubles as his brother as well as his in-law to look for food from his sister. That while he was in the house, his brother in-law saw a locally made pistol in his possession and attempted to collect it but he proved stubborn and called for help from his friends who came and helped him to escape with the firearm.

Upon receipt of the report, the Suspect was immediately tracked and arrested. The case is currently under investigation at the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) where the suspect is helping us in our investigation with a view to arresting more members of his syndicate and recovering possible exhibits.

 ARREST OF KIDNAP SUSPECT AND RESCUE OF VICTIMS

On 27/07/2024 at about 2:30pm while acting upon intelligence report received by the Command, our men at the Laranto Division rescued and arrested one Umar Adams, male, 27 years of Angwan Rimi while he was about to be lynched by an angry mob along Nepa-Rafin Gwaza village of Jos North LGA.

In the course of investigation, we discovered the suspect is responsible for the kidnap of one Hafsat Adamu, female, 5 years old and Umar Mohammed, male, 4 years old both children of one Rayyanu Mohamed, male of same address. As a result of the beating he received from the angry mob, the suspect sustained serious injury on his head and was rushed to the Hospital for medical attention while the victims were rescued and handed over to their family unhurt.

Exhibit recovered from his possession includes; the cash sum of One Million, Four Hundred and Ninety Two Thousand Naira (N1,492,000.00) only which was paid by the victim’s family as ransom. The case is currently under investigation at the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTISTS AND RECOVERY OF LOCALLY MADE PISTOL

On 01/08/2024 at about 04:20pm, the Command under my leadership arrested one Jeremiah Abwo 22 years, and Yohanna Amos 23 years, both male along Jenta Adamu Jos, who were suspected to be members of a cult syndicate which specializes in terrorizing innocent citizens along Jenta Adamu axis.

Upon sighting our patrol team from the Anti-Cultism Unit (ACU), the suspects took to their heels; after a hot chase however, they were arrested. Exhibits recovered in their possession include; one locally made Pistol. Investigation into the matter has been concluded at the State CID and the suspects have been charged to Court for prosecution.

ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR ARMED ROBBERY, UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF LOCALLY FABRICATED RIFLE

On 08/08/2024 at about 10am, a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Armed Robbery and Unlawful possession of Firearm was reported at Gimbi Outstation, Wase Division. Consequently, one Yakubu Sani, male, 20 years of Tunga village, Wase LGA was arrested in possession of a locally fabricated riffle while returning from a robbery operation. His fellow conspirator however, escaped arrest and is now at large.

In the course of our investigation, several other natives from Gabari-Tunga village and other parts of Wase LGA came to the Station and identified the suspect as one of those who have robbed them of one Boxer Motorcycle, the cash sum of Fourty Five Thousand Naira (N45,000.00) only, one TECNO phone valued Three Thousand Naira (N3,000.00) only and other valuables sometime in the month of July, 2024. Investigation into the matter is still ongoing, the suspect will be charged to Court upon conclusion of our investigation.

ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR CULPABLE HOMICIDE

On 10/08/2024 at about 3PM, the Plateau State Police Command received a report at Mangu divisional headquarters by one Mohammadu Buba, male of Tenti village, Barkin Ladi LGA, reporting that on 09/08/2024 at about 2pm, his cattle rarer one Abubakar Bello, male, 18 years old was attacked by one Dung Pwajok, male of Kunet village while on his way to the fields to feed the cows. The said Pwajok beat him seriously, and inflicted grievous injuries on him. The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was unfortunately confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

On receipt of the report, I immediately directed the DPO Mangu to mobilized men to the scene. The suspect has been arrested, while the corpse of the victim was released to the family for burial according to Islamic rites as autopsy was declined. The suspect is currently undergoing investigation at the State CID and will be charged to Court upon conclusion of our investigation.

ARREST OF KIDNAP SUSPECT

The Plateau State Police Command is pleased to announce to the general public the arrest of a notorious kidnapper. The suspect, one Yahaya Haruna, male, 25 years old was arrested by our patrol team attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) in Mangu division. While interviewing the suspect, he confessed to the crime and is currently helping the Police to apprehend other fleeing suspects. He will be charged to Court upon the conclusion of our investigation.

RECOVERY OF FIREARMS

On 18/08/2024 at about 5AM, we received credible intelligence reporting the activities of some suspected hoodlums who were cited around Dilimi area, Jos North LGA.

Upon receipt of the report, I immediately directed the DPO ‘C’ division to mobilize his Patrol team and race to the scene. Upon sighting our patrol team, the hoodlums immediately fled the area abandoning their belongings. The following items were recovered from the scene: one locally fabricated Baretta pistol loaded with 9MM live ammunition, and some dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. Efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects.

ARREST OF SUSPECTS FOR CRIMINAL INTIMIDATION AND RECOVERY OF LOCALLY FABRICATED PISTOL

On 21/08/2024 at about 4pm, one Ibrahim Usman Wau, male of Bauchi Ring Road reported at the Nassarawa Gwong Police Division that one Joshua Zimah, male of same address threatened to deal with him during a quarrel that ensued between them over payment of wages for Local Securities at a mining site located at Aren village.

Upon receipt of the complaint, I directed the DPO Nassarawa Gwong division to embark on investigation into the matter. In the course of investigation, our detectives arrested the suspect who was found in possession of one Locally fabricated pistol with one cartridge. The case is currently under investigation at the State CID.

DEFILEMENT/ARREST OF SUSPECTS

On 24/08/2024 at about 4:30pm, one Victoria Livinus and one Kauna Stephen both female of Tudun Wada Jos reported at the ‘A’ division Police station that one Miracle Igwbuike male, 16 years of the same address has been having carnal knowledge of their daughters, one Josephine Livinus, 9 years old, one Jennifer Livinus, 6 years old and one Blessing Stephen, 12 years old, all female of same address.

Upon receipt of the report, the suspect was immediately arrested by officers attached to the division and brought to the station for interview. He confessed to the crime and further stated that one Bongkat Dombin, female, 38 years of the same address has been seducing and having sexual intercourse with him since he was 13 years old.

The said Bongkat Dombin has also been arrested, and she confessed to the crime. Investigations are being concluded with a view to charging the suspects to Court.

ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, INTIMIDATION, EXTORTION, AND ATTEMPT TO KIDNAP

On 27/08/2024 at about 1PM, a case of Criminal conspiracy, Intimidation, Extortion and attempt to kidnap was reported to the Pankshin Division of the Command. The complainant, one Jeremiah Thomas, male of Posat Fier village of Pankshin LGA stated that he received a phone call via GSM No.: 09075723458, threatening to kidnap him unless he pays the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000.00k) only. After much negotiation, they settled at the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000.00k) only and the kidnapper texted him the following account Details: Account Name: Muktari Idris, Bank Name: First Bank Account Number: 2002210539. That the same GSM number later called one Daniel Longten, male of Tinjim Kushu district, Pankshin LGA and made the same demands threatening to kidnap the victim after two (2) days of failing to remit the required amount. That, two days after the threat was issued and having received no positive response, the suspected kidnapper resurfaced, shoting sporadically at his house and later called to warn him against his next visit. He further texted him the following account details: Account Name: Mamuda, Bank Name: Moniepoint MFB Account Number: 5438242412. To further solidify his threats, he informed Mr Daniel Longten that his gang was responsible for the kidnap of on Fr Jude Nwachukwu of St. Vincent De-Paul Church Fier Parish.

Upon receipt of the report, I immediately directed the Officer in Charge, Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) to mobilize men and ensure the arrest of the suspect. As a result of the swift response the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Suspect, one Saidu Umar was arrested and is currently undergoing investigation with a view to charging him to court accordingly.

ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT AND RECOVERY OF FIREARMS

On 27/08/2024 at about 2pm, the we received a distress call from a good Samaritan in Gut, Rayfield Jos South Local Government Area reporting a robbery incident going on at APJ Plaza Rayfield Resort area.

Upon receipt of the report, I immediately directed the DPO Anglo-Jos to mobilize men and race to the scene. Consequently, the following suspects were arrested: one Lohjul Sunday Sale, 25 years and Matthew Moses, both male of Bukuru area.

In the course of interviewing the suspects, we discovered that they arrived at the shop armed with a locally fabricated pistol in a tricycle with Reg. No. BUU844VC PLATEAU. After they had intimidated the sales girl and dragged her into the restroom, they selected clothes worth Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N250,000.00) only. Exhibits recovered from their possession includes one Locally fabricated pistol, the Tricycle with Reg. No. BUU 844 VC PLATEAU and the clothes they had stolen. The case is currently under investigation at the State CID and will be charged to Court upon conclusion of investigation.

ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, ARMED ROBBERY AND POSSESSION OF PROHIBITTED FIREARM

On 28/08/2024 at about 1PM, we received an intelligence report revealing the activities of some syndicates of Motorcycle snatchers operating in Shimankar area of Shandam Local Government Area.

Upon receipt of the intelligence report, I immediately ordered the Officer in Charge, Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) to mobilize his men to the scene. Consequently, one Haruna Abubakar, also known as Leggi, male of Anguwan Simon Makera Village in the Moekat District of Shendam LGA.

During interview of the suspect, he confessed to being a member of a motorcycle snatching and kidnapping syndicate and has been responsible for the theft of unspecified number of motorcycles from innocent citizens within the locality. He further revealed that one Alh. Korai Sale, male has been the one responsible for providing his syndicate with the firearm they use in carrying out their operations. Alh. Korai Sale has been arrested and the AK47 riffle with Breach No.: 86258 was recovered with 26 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. He confessed to being in possession of the firearm which he uses to protect his family and unspecified number of cows. The two suspects are currently helping us in our investigation.

The crisis in the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Plateau State chapter has taken another turn as aggrieved members have raised alarm, accusing the incumbent President of allegedly violating the terms of an earlier reconciliation resolutions.

The aggrieved group’s Spokesman, who also doubles as the group’s Coordinator, Comrade Izere Maxwell, in a press briefing today at the NUJ Press Center, Jos, Plateau State, alleged in part that the incumbent President of NULGE in the state and his team have already violated the terms of an earlier reconciliation, thereby, “Casting a dark shadow over the legitimacy of the Union’s Democratic Processes”.

JUST IN: WHY FORMER PROVOST OF FCVMLT, OKWORI JOSEPH AMEH ELEYI, WAS FOUND GUILTY AND SENTENCED TO 5 YEARS IMPRISONMENT

It has been reported that the former Provost of the College of Veterinary and Medical Laboratory Technology (FCVMLT), Okwori Joseph Ameh Eleyi, was been found guilty and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for fabrication and giving false evidence by an Upper Area Court 1 of Plateau State.

In the Judgment of the Court delivered by Hon. Lawal Suleiman (Esq), on 7/7/2024, in case No: UACI/DCR175/2021, being a Direct Criminal Complaint, dated 24th June 2021, but filed on the 7th September 2021, by Mallam Muhammad Nasiru Abursa against, Okwori Joseph Ameh Eleyi, Dr. Beatrice Olatundum Oluwatayo and Umar Baba Aliyu of the College, on charges of alleged offences of criminal conspiracy, fabrication and giving false evidence, impersonation, criminal defamation of character, injurious falsehood and criminal intimidation contrary to Sections 59, 120, 141 (1 & 2), 372, 373 and 377 of the Penal Code Law of Plateau State, 2017 respectively, the Court held that, “A calm look at the entire evidence of PW1 and PW2, there is nowhere each of them evidenced directly to the fact that the Defendants agreed to commit any of the offences charged that they can be blameworthy for agreeing to do an illegal act or unlawful act to perpetrate a lawful act by an unlawful means, as held in foregoing authorities. I therefore hold that the complainant has woefully failed to establish the alleged conspiracy against the Defendants as such they should be entitled to a discharge of the said charge”.

BREAKING: POLICE DRAGS PASTOR SAMSON ETUEDO AND ONE NKECHI PETER TO COURT OVER ALLEGED ADULTERY AND CRIMINAL TRESPASS

The Nigerian Police, Plateau State command has dragged one Pastor Samson Etuedo and one Nkechi Peters to a Chief Magistrate Court of Plateau State, over alleged Criminal Trespass and Adultery.

The duo were arrested and brought to Court by the Police after investigating the Petition that was written by one Esea Miller Agbatutu of Katako community behind Redeem Church in Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State against the duo.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) sighted by our Reported, Mr. Miller had stated that he had marital issue with his wife, Nkechi Peter and had reported the matter to the Church where he attends for an amicable settlement and Pastor Samson Etuedu was allegedly assigned to settle the matter.

JUST IN: FABRICATION AND GIVING FALSE EVIDENCE: FORMER PROVOST OF FCVMLT, OKWORI JOSEPH AMEH ELEYI, SENTENCED TO 5 YEARS IMPRISONMENT

An Upper Area Court 1 of Plateau State, sitting at Kasuwan Nama, Jos, has sentenced a former Acting Provost of the College of Veterinary and Medical Laboratory Technology (FCVMLT), Okwori Joseph Ameh Eleyi, after finding him guilty for fabrication and giving false evidence against one Mallam Muhammad Nasiru Ambursa, (the Complainant in case No: UACI/DCR175/2021) to 5 years imprisonment or a fine of N200,000.00   

On the face of the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Judgment signed by, Hon. Lawal Suleiman (Esq), (the Sole Judge), the Judgment stated that, in view of the plea for leniency by his Counsel and the Complainant’s Counsel, who confirmed that there is no record or evidence of previous conviction against Okwori, the Court reduced his sentence of 7 years, as provided for by Section 120 (1) of the Plateau State Penal Code, 2017, as first time offender to 5 years.

Patrick Sunday Dakum Foundation has finally made public its Aims and Objectives, which targets more of the less privileged in virtually all ramification in society.

You would recall that the Foundation is established by, Professor Patrick Sunday Dakum, the Chief Executive Officer Institute of Human Virology Nigeria, IHVN, and Plateau Labour Party (LP), governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections.

According to a statement from his Media Consultant, Mr. Shabul Mazadu, the Founder, Professor Dakum, “is inclined humanitarian wise and God-centric, has dedicated his life to making positive impact on many as possible that he comes in contact with and in various dimensions be it economic, spiritual, health and education wise, likewise the home front, which he strongly advocates adequate attention be given to.
