IPA TO PARTNER WITH PLATEAU STATE CHRISTIAN PILGRIMS WELFARE BOARD, AS THE EXECUTIVE SECREATRY, COMMENDS MEDIA PRACTITIONERS

The Executive Secretary of Plateau State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Rev. Wanson Yusufu Bagu, has commended the efforts of Media Practitioners in Plateau State and the country at large in news coverage. He has also charged them to always give accurate and balance reportage despite all odds, while discharging their social responsibility to the society.

Rev. Bagu gave this charge during a courtesy visit on him and his office by the members of the Independent Publishers Association (IPA), led by its Chairman, Mr. Shabul Mazadu in Jos.

Rev. Bagu, who expressed delight during the visit of the Pen Professionals while welcoming them said, he is open to any form of collaboration with IPA that would enable Plateau people know what the Board is doing on their behalf in the state.

Rev. Yusufu Bagu said, “I commends the efforts of Journalists especially, in  the way you people cover and report news under huge risk. I see this profession as more of risking your life in the quest to bring out what is happening at the grassroots always.

”Adding that "I imagine the kind of vigour and determination Journalists put up in other to bring out news especially, in a challenging environment. I remember somebody saying in one analysis that “these people didn't fear the consequences of reporting and in some reports at the background you would hear some sounds echoing scarily. We commend you all for your service.

"I recall vividly in my own Church that we lost two Journalists in Jos North LGA, in their quest to bring us news because they were not mobile and they were ambush, and killed them mercilessly. This killing affected not only their immediate spouses, parents, relations, but other colleagues and the Church. So, may the Lord continue to shield you and protect this your profession!

 "I want to solicit that in your quest, you should work hard to be faithful because, sometimes we the listeners get shock when we know exactly what happened and then the report is not reflecting what happened. 

CHAIRMAN SHABUL ON HIS FEET

 Earlier, the Chairman of IPA, Mr. Shabul Mazadu had expressed the Publishers desire to partner with the Board in promoting grassroots awareness of the functions, programs and challenges of the Board apart from the routine coordination of going for the holy pilgrimages.

He said, as publishers they are not just reporters only, but employers of labour.

Adding that, “other Journalists are reporting what is happening, but the Independent Publishers go beyond just reporting, as they are the Final gate Keepers that allow all information to pass through the publications.”

Mr. Shabul, encouraged the partnership of the Board in enabling IPA project Plateau State in good light before the local and international communities.
