PLATEAU LGC ELECTIONS TRIAL TRIBUNAL: THE BREAKDOWN OF COUNCILLORSHIP PETITIONS

After the conduct of the Plateau State Local Government Council (LGC) elections, 19 petitions, 9 from Wase, 5 from Shandam, 3 from Riyom, 1 from Jos-North, and One from Mangu Local Government Areas (LGAs), have already hit the table of the Plateau State Elections Trial Tribunal, with most coming from Shandam Local Government Area.

The Petitions from Shandam Local Government Area (LGA) are mostly filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC). REALITY can authoritatively state.

The Petitions filed by the APC candidates are challenging the victories of the candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Shandam.


The APC is challenging the PDP in Shemankar, Kwapkilik, Nyak,  Shandam B, Peoship Wards in Shandam Local Government Area (LGA).

The APC is also challenging the victory of the PDP at the poll at, Gudus, Gimbi/Pinau, Gaji, Wase Tofa, Saluwe, Bashar, Yuli, Nyalum, Lamba Wards in Wase Local Government Area (LGA).

In Riyom Local Government Area (LGA), Labour Party (LP) is challenging the victory of PDP in Bum, Fanfroi, and Tse Wards.

While, the PDP is challenging the victories of the NNPP at Alikazaure Ward in Jos North LGA, and Mangu Ward 1 in Mangu LGA, against the APC.

According to the Tribunal Registrar, Mr. N. B. Gidado, all the petitions were filed within time except that from Mangu Ward 1, owing to an alleged planned Rerun.
