2025 PLATEAU STATE BUDGET: PLATEAU RADIO/TV CORPORATION (PRTVC) COMMENDED BY STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, OVER 2024 BUDGET PERFORMANCE

The Plateau State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Information has commended the leadership of the Plateau Radio/Tv Corporation (PRTC) for what it described as its outstanding performance in the 2024 Budget, even when the year is yet to end.

The Committee gave this commendation during the 2025 Plateau State Budget Defence by PRTVC Management, which held in Room 1, at the state House of Assembly.

2025 PLATEAU STATE BUDGET: MINISTRY OF INFORMATION PLANS TO HELP GENERATE REVENUE, HOUSE PROMISES TO WORK WITH THE MINISTRY

Although it is not a revenue generating structured Ministry, the Plateau State Ministry of Information, current led by its Commissioner, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashoms, has plans to help the state generate revenue to add to its current Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in 2025.

Disclosing this during the Ministry’s 2025 Budget Defence that took place in Committee Room 1, in the Plateau State House of Assembly today, Ashoms said, “The Ministry has discovered some windows of generating revenue for the state and shall soon be coming forward with a Bill to the Honourable House to seek its approval and passage”.

JUST IN: INDISCRIMINATE BUILDINGS ON COUNCIL’S LAND: JOS NORTH CHAIRMAN, WARNS DEFAULTERS TO IMMEDIATELY HALT DEVELOPMENT

The Executive Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, John Kyohroh Christopher (Esq), has issued a stern warning to individuals and organizations constructing structures on the Council's land at Pama Motor, adjacent to Bauchi Junction, ordering them to immediately halt further development.

The Chairman handed down the warning in company of his Deputy, Hon. Sani Garkuwa, as well as, members of the Legislative Council and top government functionaries, after he undertaking an assessment visit to Jos North properties, including the Sarki Arab Primary Health Centre, Yan Doya,Yan Shanu and the old Pama motor park Bauchi Road Clinic.

In addition to the warning, according to  further information received by, REALITY, the Council also announced the closure of the Chacoal Market in Angwan Rukuba to enable the Council, “Rebuild the Market to attract investors, retailers, and consumers, thereby boosting the council's income”.

The Chairman also took time to interface with the Medical Superintendents of the respective Clinics and the business communities where he expressed the Council’s commitment to secure government properties, rehabilitate facilities and to rebuild the Market to boost more business activities.

RECENT KILLING OF JAMES YAKUBU IN RIYOM LGA: MOVES TO INSTITUTE LAWSUIT TO BAN FREE/OPEN GRAZING IN BEROM LANDS IN THE PIPELINE

While the Plateau Unity Christmas Carrol was being rounded off at 10 Commandments on the 1^st of December 2024, the Berom Youths Moulder-Association-(BYM) has strongly alleged that a group of 6 assailants suspected to be Fulani Militants have ambushed and hacked to death, one Mr. James Yakubu, a 23 years old young man, and a Secondary School graduate at Du'ang hamlet of Kwi Community, Riyom LGA at about 10:00pm.

BYM in a press statement made available to Media Houses including REALITY, date 2^nd December 2024, while reacting to the killing has warned that, if these attacks and killings do not stop, they would be forced to institute a Lawsuit to ban/stop free/open grazing in the entire Berom lands.

The release signed by Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri (Esq), the National President of Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM), in part states, “We, unequivocally, wish to state that, should the Fulani continue defying Law and Order (The ban on late evening and night grazing), the BYM would not hesitate to explore the available legal means including Lawsuit to stop free/open grazing within Brrom lands, since they (Fulani Militants) have mastered the abuse of free grazing to perpetrate acts of banditry and terrorism”.

PRISON FELLOWSHIP NIGERIA EMBARKS ON RESTORATIVE JUSTICE, REHABILITATION, AND REINTEGRATION PROJECT ACROSS EIGHT STATES

Abuja, Nigeria – Prison Fellowship Nigeria (PF Nigeria) has commenced a series of Restorative Justice workshops in Plateau State, the first of many interventions under its Restorative Justice, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration Project. This initiative will span eight states, including Adamawa, Edo, Anambra, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Plateau, Kano, Abia, and Lagos.

The project is implemented under the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC Phase II) Programme, funded by the European Union and managed by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA). The initiative aims to strengthen the rule of law and enhance anti-corruption reforms across Nigeria.

Although the hearing of the Direct Criminal Case, No: JMMC/DCR/201/2024, filed by one Huzaifa Ibrahim Aliyu, against one Aliyu Ibrahim Aliyu, at the Senior District Court of Plateau State, sitting at Main Market 4 was stalled today, as the Court could not sit for reasons yet to be made known to Journalists who were there to witness the proceedings, sympathizers for the Defendants carrying placards, with various inscriptions in their hundreds were in Court to witness the proceedings and show support for them.
