As the 2024 Plateau State Ministerial Press Briefing continues, the State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashoms has reminded the citizens that the event is aimed at carrying along the populace in Good Governance and Sustainable Development of the incumbent state administration led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Esq).

He made this remark at the Plateau State 2024 Ministerial Press Briefing, on 26^th April 2024, in the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Education, at the J. D. Gomwalk Secretariat in Jos.    

Hon. Ashoms said the Press Briefing is the first focal point of the Green Cap Policy Thrust of Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration, which is “Good Governance and Citizens Participation in Sustainable Development”, and also, a core mandate of the Ministry of Information and Communication, to enlighten, educated, and inform the citizens.

The Berom people in Nigeria have described the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang (Esq) as a listening Governor.

According to Edward Pwajok (SAN), in an On-The-Spot interview with Journalists at the Secretariat of the Commission set up by Governor Mutfwang (Esq) to look into the complaints arising out of the 2015 Chiefdoms, Districts, and Village Areas, he also submitted that the Berom people also believe in the communicated message of the Governor, as a “Message of Peace”.

He said, “The Berom people listened to his message patiently!”

The Berom Nation in Plateau State has submitted its Complaint Document against the 2015 Upgrading, and creation of Chiefdoms, Districts, and Village Areas to the Committee recently established by the Plateau State Government to look into matters arising from the exercise, among 221 other documents submitted by other ethnic groups in the state.

While submitting their Complaint Document duly signed by Berom Nation’s Gbong Gwom Jos, other Chiefs, and Leaders to the Committee at their Secretariat yesterday 24/04/2024, the Berom people lamented over the way the 2015 exercise hurt, humiliated, and caused serious pains to the Berom Nation.

Speaking to Journalists at the venue, Hon. Edward Pwajok (SAN), who was flanked by Berom Chiefs and other Political Leaders said, the Nation believes that the present administration led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Esq) and the Committee would do justice to all the issues that may have arisen out of the 2015 exercise.

The Berom Nation in Plateau State Nigeria has submitted its Complaint Document to the Committee saddled with the responsibility of addressing the issues that have arisen out of the 2015 Upgrade and Creation of Chiefdoms, Districts, and Village Areas.

The Berom Nation in their Complaint Document have strongly expressed their pains over the 2015 exercise and the way the Gbong Gwom Jos stool was treated by the Government letter that was gazetted.

You would recall that the Gbong Gwong Jos stool has remained a revered stool in the state and the country at large.

Speaking to inquisitive Jouranlists at the Secretariat of the Committee, the venue where the Complaint Document was submitted, Hon. Edward Pwajok (SAN) reiterated that the Gbong Gwom Jos stool had been treated, acknowledged, and accorded its respect until the 2015 sad exercise.

BREAKING: RECYCLING PLASTIC IS NOT A SOLUTION—IPEN/CFEW MEDIA, UNCOVERS

New findings have shown that recycling plastic is not a solution to the current plastic crisis in Nigeria and the world at large.

This was disclosed by IPEN/CFW, a global network forging a healthier world, where people and the environment are no longer harmed by the production, use, and disposal of toxic chemicals, in a press briefing at the NUJ Press Center, Jos Plateau State.

Speaking on the organization’s findings, Mr. Stanley Okwara, IPEN/CFEW Youth Co-Chair and Research Assistant said, recycling has been put forward as a solution to the plastics crisis. However, due to the addition of toxic plastic chemicals (Both the process chemicals and a variety of process contaminants), recycling plastics now means “recycling chemicals”.

PLATEAU: SUIT NO: FHC/J/CS/03/2024: PDP VS INEC AND 18 OTHERS: CASE ADJOURNED TO 14TH MAY, 2024

The Federal High Court (FHC), Jos Division has again adjourned the hearing of Suit No: FHC/J/CS/03/2024, between the Plateau State chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), INEC, and the 16 Elected Plateau State House of Assembly Members to the 14^th of May, 2024 for further hearing.

The matter was adjourned today, after the Counsel for the 1^st and 2^nd Defendants (Speaker and the PLHA) Sabo Longji (Esq), a Director of Civil Litigation from the State Ministry of Justice, applied for an adjournment to enable him to file his processes against the Originating Summons filed by the PDP.

Longji told the Court that he has not been able to file the processes because of lack of resources.

Although other Defendants' Counsel objected to the application and even requested a Cost of Two Million if granted, the Court granted the Application.

NASARAWA: WINDSTORM KILLS ONE, AND DESTROYS WORSHIP CENTERS. AGBASHI DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (ADA), APPEALS FOR RELIEF

At least one person was reportedly killed and several others sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of a heavy Windstorm in Agbashi Community of Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Tuesday.  It was also reliably gathered that over 100 houses including houses used as worship centers were also destroyed by the rampaging windstorm.

Briefing newsmen on the sad incident Wednesday, the Vice Chairman of Doma Local Government Council, Mr. John Bako-Ari, disclosed that the unfortunate tragedy occurred on Tuesday evening.

He explained that over one hundred residential houses were destroyed including the Agbashi Central Mosque, while part of Pilot Primary School Agbashi and several other public infrastructures were not spared by the devastating windstorm.

Although the One-Day protest to sit at home by the PLATEAU STATE JOINT TRANSPORT, TRADERS AND MARKETERS ASSOCIATIONS was effective in the early ours of the morning of Wednesday, 3^rd April 2024, the protest has been relaxed, as shops and the Terminus Market within the economic center of Jos, the capital of Plateau State have all opened for business this afternoon.

Plateau State Joint Transport, Traders, and Marketers Associations have threatened to embark on a One-Day Warning Strike over the effects of the Plateau State Executive Order 003, 2024.

The Associations in a Press Conference today stated that the Order has brought untold hardship on its members and the common citizens in the state.

Reading the Press Text signed by over 9 Chairmen of the Associations in the Head Office of the Joint Associations, S. Abubakar Garba, the Chairman of the Jos-North chapter said, “It is with a heavy heart that we address you today. As you are aware of the pains and hardships our members and the common citizens of Plateau State are going through as a result of the signing and implementation of Executive Order 003, 2024 for the Control of Buildings and Vehicular Traffic in Plateau State wherein more than 25 trucks have been impounded by Mr. Hart Bankat, the General Manager of JMDB on behalf of Plateau State Government on the premise of violation of the said Executive Order on the first day of its implementation”.

The issues within the just concluded rerun of the Plateau North Senatorial election have been dragged to the Election Petition Tribunal by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its Senatorial candidate, Amb. Chris Giwa and the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and its candidate, Yakub Muhammad Shafiu.

In the Petition filed by the NNPP and its Senatorial candidate, Yakub Muhammad Shafiu, the Petitioners have allegedly told the Tribunal that, Sen. Dachungyang Pam, the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) at the time of the election was not qualified to contest.
