Century 21 Freedom Group International, a Non-Governmental Business Organization, currently championing the ‘La Buena Vida Project”, has embarked on a 2-day, free petrol distribution for low-income transport workers.
The 36 state, nationwide projects, also took place in different petrol stations across Jos, the Plateau State capital.
One of the “La Buena Vida’ Team Leaders, Ijeoma Ubaneche, who supervised the distribution of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Jos, was at NNPC Zaramaganda and Bob Investments Ltd at Sparkling Junction, was impressed with the success of the 2-day event, which ended on Tuesday, 30th August, 2023.
Ijeoma Ubaneche said, “this was another flagship project by the organization to alleviate the pains of the people, especially, in times like this following the impact of the fuel subsidy removal”.
“We are hopeful that, our economy stabilizes soon!
“However, as God continues to bless our business and partners, we hope to raise more finances to continue to scale our impact and spread happiness.”
A Nigerian, Rev. John Abubakar OSA, PhD, has been announced as the Chief Sustainability Officer of Villanova University.
Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, the President of Villanova University, made this disclosure during his welcoming address to new and returning students of the University.
In his message, dated 23rd August 2023, Rev. Peter M. Donohue OSA, PhD, in part said, “I am pleased to share that Rev. John Abubakar OSA, PhD, has been named Chief Sustainability Officer at Villanova, effective immediately.
“In his role, Fr, John will serve as the Chair of the Sustainability Leadership Council, the campus group overseeing Villanova’s Sustainability initiatives, and endeavour to establish an ethos of sustainability in our University Community by advancing Villanova’s Sustainability Plan.
“He will also promote sustainability agreement through educational opportunities and provide expertise and guidance for sustainability planning, design and operation”.
Rev. Peter also disclosed to the University Community that, Fr. John is a Nigerian.
He said, “Fr. John joins us from Nigerian Augustinian Province, where he was ordained in 2004”.

Before the 25th of September, 2023, when the case filed by the alleged suspended 17 Local Government Council Chairmen (LGC) would be heard by the Plateau State High Court, the elected Chairmen and the Transition Chairmen (TIC) appointed to replace them have met today. The Chairmen whose suit was filed by way of Originating Summons and questioning the power of the State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang (Esq) to remove them from office, have already been directed by the police to resume pending the determination of their case in Court. REALITY also gathered.
In another development, there are strong indications that, NULGE chapter in the state may be going on strike tomorrow morning, owing to the impasse.

However, from the Police press statement making the rounds in Jos, the Plateau State capital, signed by DSP ALFRED ALABO, POLICE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (PPRO), FOR THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE, PLATEAU STATE COMMAND, JOS, the Police has directed the allegedly Suspended Chairmen to resume tomorrow being the 28th of August 2023.
The press statement in part states that, “As parts of efforts to ensure the effective running of the 17 Local Government Secretariats in the State, the Police High Command has critically reviewed the matter and has directed the Plateau State Commissioner Police to unseal all the offices of the Local Government Council Chairmen and that of the Councilors to enable all the elected Council Chairmen and Councilors go into their various offices and administrate without any hindrance, pending the outcome of their case in court”.

TOTAL UNSEALING OF 17 LOCAL GOVERNMENT SECRETARIATS AND OFFICES OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMEN IN PLATEAU STATE
Following the unseal of the 17 LOCAL Government Secretariats in Plateau State on 14th August, 2023 by the Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, CP Okoro Julius Alawari, psc after diligent assessment of the security situation in the State and intensive consultation with the Police High Command to enable workers carry out their statutory duties and since then, the State has been relatively peaceful.
The Plateau State Police Chief thanks the good people of Plateau, Political actors and political parties in the State for upholding the fair decision of the Police hierarchy in the interest of peace.
As parts of efforts to ensure the effective running of the 17 Local Government Secretariats in the State, the Police High Command has critically reviewed the matter and has directed the Plateau State Commissioner Police to unseal all the offices of the Local Government Council Chairmen and that of the Councilors to enable all the elected Council Chairmen and Councilors go into their various offices and administrate without any hindrance, pending the outcome of their case in court.
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, has directed all Area Commanders and their Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) under his Command to immediately unseal the offices of the 17 Local Government Chairmen across the State and allow the democratically elected Chairmen have access to their offices and resume work on Monday, 28th August, 2023.
In view of the new development, all Political parties, parents/guardians, Religious and Traditional Rulers are advised to warn their supporters, wards and congregants against any form of jubilating and inciting demonstrations that could trigger the breach of peace, law, and order in and around the Local Government Areas of the State.
Also, criminals and mischief makers who may want to use this opportunity to brew confusion or foment trouble in the State, should note that the Plateau State Police Command is out to apprehend and prosecute them accordingly.
The Police boss also urges the peace loving people of Plateau State, to remain calm and carry out your lawful businesses without fear as his Command is doing everything within its constitutional powers to ensure the security of lives and properties in the State.
The CP also implores Plateau residents to call the following numbers in case of emergency.
Nasarawa State Government has warned that, all structures, including living houses constructed along water ways would be demolished.
The State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Malam Yakubu Kwanta, who made this government position known during the state’s monthly sanitation exercise today Saturday, explained that, the State Government’s intention is to prevent any catastrophe that might befall the people of the state in the event of flooding, especially, at this critical moment of the rains.
Represented by the State Chief Environmental Officer, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed, the Commissioner warned the people of the state against illegal dumping of refuse along drainage.
According to him, “Times are now extremely dangerous as the rain has reached its zenith’.
Mal. Kwanta further disclosed that, a total number of Eighty Six (86) persons were arrested and prosecuted for violating the sanitation law on Saturday, adding that, the state Government is planning to launch “Operation Pick Leather” to further boost the state’s cleanliness.
He commended shops owners in state for their strict compliance with the sanitation law, while stating that, over Ninety Eight percent of shops in the state remained close within the hours of the sanitation period.
He encouraged them (shop owners), to keep up the tempo to further promote the total cleanliness of the state, as he further states that, the Ministry intends to organize a public enlightenment camping to awaken the conscience of the people on the need to always keep their environment clean for a healthy living.
Adding that, the planned launch of “Operation Pick Leather” is part of Government’s efforts to ensure a healthy environment devoid of filth.
Allegedly suspended Local Government Council Chairmen and their Councilors in Plateau State in Suit No: PLD/1257/2023, have told the Plateau State High Court that, Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Esq) is not the President of Nigeria to remove them from office as they are elected Executives in the 17 LGCs of the state.
The Claimants in the Affidavit in support of their Originating Summons, deposed to by Hon. Miskoom Alexander Naantuam, the Chairman of Shendam LGC and who doubles as the Chairman of the Plateau State chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) stated that, they would want to know whether in the light of Section 7(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN), they can be removed from office by any means other than by democratic method.
Adding that, “The Claimants also desire to known if the Ist Defendant can exercise the powers conferred on him by Section 95(1) in the light of Section 305(3)(a-f) and of the Constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria.
“That the 1st Defendant is not the President of Nigeria.
“That other than Section 95(1) of the Plateau State Local Government Law, there is no power conferred on the 1st Defendant by any Law to remove any of the Claimants from office, either as Chairman or Councilor.
“That unless the question raised in the Originating Summons, seeking the interpretation of Section 95(1) of the Plateau State Local Government Law, 2016 vis a vis Section 7(1) and 305(3)(a-f) and (4) of the Constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria, are determined and the reliefs granted, the 1st Defendant will have recourse to the said provisions to remove the Claimants from office”.
You would recall that, REALITY had also reported that, the allegedly suspended LGC Chairmen in Plateau State, would on the 25th of September, 2023 be praying the Plateau State High Court for an Order of Perpetual Injunction restraining the Defendants in Suit No: PLD/1257/2023, by themselves or by their servants, agents or privies from truncating, according to Section 1(1) of the Constitution of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended and also an Order of Perpetual Injunction restraining the Defendants by themselves or by their servants, agents, and or privies from nominating or appointing any person or group or persons under any guise or nomenclature to run the affairs of any Local Government in Plateau State, while the tenure of the Claimants is extent.
You would recall that, the matter was adjourned to the 25th of September, 2023, owing to, an Application for Joinder filed by, Hon. Zulfa Bitrus Rimven the former Chairman of, Langtang North LGC.
It is also of note that, before the adjournment, the Defendants in the suit, the Governor of Plateau State, and the Attorney General of Plateau state, are yet to file their response to the Originating Summons filed by the Chairmen.
The Claimants (Chairmen) in the face of their Originating Summons would also be praying for the following reliefs below:-
Whether the provision of Section 95(1) of the Plateau State Local Government Council Law, 2016 empowers the Defendants to arbitrarily or whimsically appoint any person or persons under the guise of undescribed extra-ordinary measures to run the affairs of the Local Government in the place of the Claimants, who were elected through a democratic election, or pursuant to Section 7(1) of the Constitution of the FRN, 1999 (as amended), and whether such sweeping undefined powers so granted is not inconsistent with Section 7 (1) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Whether the powers donated to the 1st Defendant by Section 95(1) of the Plateau State Local Government Council Law, 2016 to take extra-ordinary measures, by instrument circumstance or situations listed in the said Section 95(1) (a-f) is not inconsistent with the provision of Section 305 (3)(a-f) and (4) of the Constitution of the FRN, 1999 (as amended), among others.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has tendered an unreserved apology on behalf of the State and Federal Governments to Nigerians, over the pains inflicted on them as a result of the fuel subsidy removal, while assuring that, “Government meant well for them”.
Addressing the people at the flag off of the distribution of palliatives to cushion the effects of the hardships being faced by members of the public as a result of the subsidy removal held at the Emir of Lafia’s Palace, toda Tuesday, Engineer Sule said, “Government gesture was not aimed at inflicting hardship on its Citizenry but rather to correct the wrongs for a better tomorrow”.
He further explained that, the choice of the palace for the flag off was deliberate, while stressing that, “the gesture was devoid of any political undertones as the food items belong to all devoid of political leaning”.
He said the food items, would be distributed from Ward to Ward to enable it get right to the grass roots.
Adding that, “Similar flag off would be conducted in both Chun Mada and Emir of Keffi palaces respectively”.
Governor Sule charged members of the Committee responsible for the distribution of the palliative to be upright in discharging their responsibility to ensure that, the food items get to the common man at the grassroots.
Earlier, in her remarks, the State Commissioner, Ministry of Special Duties, Humanitarian Service and NGOS, Mrs. Margret Elayo, stressed the need for members of the Committee responsible for the distribution of the palliative to be upright in the discharged of this onerous but important assignment.
The Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage, commended Governor Sule for adding to the Federal Government’s palliatives aimed at bringing succor to the people of the state.
He appealed to Nigerians to understand the present situation the Government has found itself, while assuring that, “the current hardship being experienced will in no distance future be a thing of the past”.
Chairman Lafia LGC, Alhaji Aminu M Maifata, appealed to the people of the Council to conduct themselves in an orderly manner during and after the distribution of the palliative.
The entire petitions filed by the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded elections conducted by INEC on 25th February 2023 and 18th March, 2023 in Plateau State are majorly centered on the structure issue(s) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau State chapter.
The Petitioners have also tried to prove their case by calling witnesses to testify to this alleged non-existence of PDP structure in the state.
More so, the APC and its candidates had called witnesses to also establish that, there were over voting in some Polling Units (PUs), while pointing that, there are some alterations in some of the results tendered, among others.
The PDP and its candidates, who are declared winners in most of the election results declared by INEC, are basically at the Defence, being the major “Respondent” in most of the Petitions.
They have in some of the cases in defence of their declared victories called witnesses and in others, they declined to call any for strategic reasons.
However, in all the Petitions in which they are Respondents and before the Petitions were adjourned for Counsel’s Final Written Address, they tendered Documentary Evidence, trying to contradict the submissions of the Petitioners.
One among the major Documentary Evidence that has been tendered before the three (3) Tribunal Panels sitting in Jos, Plateau State is the Federal High court Judgment in Suit No: FHC/J/CS/64/2022, filed by way of Originating Summons by Mr. Augustine Timkuk by the PDP as Respondents and the Petitioners.
The Defendants on the face of the Judgment documents are as follows:-

Mr. Timkuk (The Claimant), brought the suit (Originating Summons), dated 1st June, 2022, pursuant to Section 84 of the Electoral Act, section 38 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sections 15, 18, 25 and other Sections of the Constitution of the PDP and part 1, iii, iv and v of the Guidelines of the 2nd defendant for Primary Elections 2022, Order 3 Rules 6, 7, and 9 of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019.
Mr. Timkuk therein, sought the FHC to determine, “Whether having regards to the combined provisions of Sections 15, 18, 25 and the entire provisions of the PDP Constitution, regulating the conduct of Wards, Local Government Area (LGA) and State Congresses, the 4th to 7th defendants have lawful authority to perform any duties, having regard to the Judgment of the Courts compelling the 2nd defendant to conduct its Congress for the purpose of Constituting its Wards, LGA, and State Executive Committees and
“Whether having regard to the provisions of Section 84 (8) of the Electoral Act, 2022 and the Constitution of the 2nd defendant, the conduct of elections of the 3-man Adhoc delegates in the Federal Wards of the State Constituency seat of Langtang North/South, Federal Constituency, State House of Assembly Constituencies, the three (3) elections and the failure of the 2nd defendant to comply with the Orders of the Courts compelling the 2nd defendant to conduct its Congresses for the purpose of constituting its Wards, LGA and State Executive Committees, the 4th-7th defendants can summon, preside, direct or superintend over the conduct of any Congresses for the elective office of member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Federal Constituencies, Senatorial Districts for the purpose of conducting primaries for the nomination of the 2nd defendant’s candidates”, among other questions Timkuk set out for the Court to determination.
The Claimant Timkuk filed a 54 paragraphs Affidavit in support of the Originating Summons. Attached also to the Originating Summons are 9 annextures marked as, Exhibits AT1, AT3, AT4, AT7, 6A, 6B, 65 and a Written Address.
Upon been served with the Originating Summons, the 2nd defendant filed a 38 paragraphs Affidavit deposed to by Binchen Jantur (Esq), the State Legal Adviser of the 2nd defendant. Attached to the Counter Affidavit are 8 annextures marked as Exhibits R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R5a, R6, R7 and a Written Address.
The 3rd defendant also filed 17 paragraphs Counter Affidavit to the originating Summons, deposed to by himself. Attached to the Affidavit, are 6 annextures marked as Exhibits A to F and a Written Address.
The 4th-7th defendants filed a 12 paragraphs Counter Affidavit, dated the 26th day of September, 2022 and filed on 27th day of September, 2022 and a Written Address accompanying the Counter Affidavit.
The Claimant also filed a Further Affidavit, dated the 19th of July, 2022 and filed on the same date.
Each of the defendants had filed a Notice of Preliminary Objection (PO).
In their submissions to the 3 Tribunal Panels, the PDP and its candidates have drawn the attention of the Tribunal to some paragraphs of the Judgment where the Court had made findings that, the PDP had actually conducted a Repeat Congress.
While on their part, the APC and its candidates have also drawn the attention of the Tribunal Panels to some paragraphs in the Judgment where the Court completely declined Jurisdiction to determine the Originating Summons.
The paragraphs in part under contention are hereby reproduced below for all readers to read, just as, witnesses were made to read out in the open at the Tribunal Panels.
“I agree with the Objector that the complaint of the Claimant is about the events, decisions and actions of the 2nd defendant/objector in conducting election for 3-man Adhoc Delegates on the 30th April, 2022 and appointment of Electoral Committee on the 19th May, 2022 and not about the conduct of the Primary Election for nomination of candidate for the Langtang North-North Constituency. Therefore the Claimant having not filed the Originating Summons later than 14 days from the 19th of May, 2022, the Suit is Statute Barred.
“The complaint contained in reliefs 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11 in the Originating Summons and paragraphs 5, 6, and 24 of the Affidavit in support are against third parties who are not parties to the Originating Summons and that robes this Honourable Court the Jurisdiction to entertain this suit.
“I agree with the submission of Counsel to the 2nd defendant that the Repeated Congress of the 2nd defendant was held on the 25th day of September, 2021 and monitored by the 1st Defendant (INEC) as evidenced by Exhibit R6. This was the reason the Claimant went ahead to participate in the primaries for the Langtang North-North State Constituency on the 22nd May, 2022.
“I do not agree that the 2nd defendant is in disobedience of Exhibit AT3, AT4 and AT5.
“I disagree with Learned Counsel to the Claimant/Objector that Exhibit R5 which is the Suit filed before High Court of Justice Plateau State is not on all fours with the present Suit, hence not abuse of Court process.
“From the content of the Originating Summons the parties and the subject matter are the same. It is my view that this Suit as presently constituted is an abuse of Court process.
“In conclusion, I find merit in the Notice of Preliminary Objection and agree with the 2nd and 3rd defendants/objectors that this Honourable Court lacks the Jurisdiction to entertain and determine the Originating Summons.
“The Originating Summons is incompetent and is accordingly dismissed”.
You would however recall that, REALITY had reported that, in the views of Barr Samuel (Esq) on this issue of declining of Jusrisdiction he said, “When a Court holds that, it has no jurisdiction on a matter, ordinarily it should not have powers to make any pronouncement denoting rights or liabilities to the parties before it.
“Once a Court holds it has no jurisdiction, every other decision affecting the rights of the parties become academic as those rights cannot be enforced.
“Any decision taking thereafter amounts to no issue. On the issue of the effect of a Court pronouncing on a matter after deciding it has no jurisdiction, the apex Court in Obi vs. INEC (2007) 1 ANLRP 258 held: “once a Court declines jurisdiction to entertain a suit, the only other step it could take in the matter is to make an order striking out the suit.
“Any other Order or pronouncement made by the Court after declaring that it lacks jurisdiction to entertain a suit is null and void and of no effect”.
The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang (Esq) has promised to look more into the Gender Based Violence (GBV) Model Laws in the State in a bid to protect Women, Girls and other types of discrimination and marginalization in both private and public places.
This, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), the Women’s Rights Advancement And Protection Alternative (WRAPA) was told today, 22nd of August 2023, during its engagement tagged: Policy Moment to Conduct multi-stakeholder Intergenerational dialogue; that includes youths, Women & Girls, marginalized groups, leaders of faith and culture, CSOs & Service Providers engaging the VAPP and the GEO laws to consolidate on improved access to prevention, protection and justice to address issues of Gender Based Violence in the State at Lamonde Hotel, Jos.

The Chairman of the Gender Equal Opportunity Commission, Mrs. Olivia Dazyem (Esq), who spoke on behalf of the Plateau State Governor/Government to clear the position of the State Government on the issue(s) also added that, the Governor/State are also planning to generate data of the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the state in order to engage them in bring more awareness of the Model Laws (Geo Bill & the VAPP Act 2015).
Mrs. Olivia (Esq) said, “This is to entrench and saturate the Model Laws for enhanced women’s and girls’ legal and social justice, women’s groups and youths, who are integral parts of society on the need to be fully aware of the existing Laws”.

Earlier, while welcoming the participants to the dialogue, the State Project Officer (SPO of WRAPA, Mrs. Jummai Madaki, had told the participants that, the objectives of the dialogue is to:-

To rejig existing referral pathway to create linkages between survivors and service providers and safe drilling downwards to the hard-to-reach communities of women and girls.
To learn through experience sharing amongst youths, leaders of culture and faith, CSOs, survivors and women groups (Plenary Session), to generate stories and to
Improve visibility through youth engagement.

On her part, the Secretary General (SG) of WRAPA, Saudatu Mahdi, represented by Habiba Ahmed, while welcoming the Participants also said the project is aimed at:
“Galvanizing sustainable innovative strategies, roles and commitments from youths, women groups, community influencers and other participants to continue the advocacy for the passage and implementation of the Laws to create awareness and to increase community ownership that galvanizes social pressure on government towards the effective implementation of the model Laws”.

One of the facilitators, Plangna Deborah, told the participants that, at the end of the program it is expected that, there would be improved inclusive coordination and collaboration by relevant duty bearers to popularize the VAPP and GEO Bill before the Plateau State House of Assembly.
Adding that, “It would be expected that, the synergy and joint collaboration from state and non-state actors will be strengthened through joint accountability, setup to track and monitor groups’ commitments and more improved agency are expected, as women and girls would be engaged with the model laws to combat issues of GBV, as a result of the enhanced reportage and accessibility to GBV services”.
TRADITIONAL LEADERS SUBMIT POSITION AFTER THE PLENARY SESSION
The highlight of the program was the Plenary Session, which had the representative of the Plateau State Government, cultural, and faith leaders, youths, CSOs and the Media as participants.
The session looked and discussed issues of youth inclusion in governance and the demands/accountability from duty bearers on the implementation of the model laws.
It is of note that, WRAPA is a registered non-governmental organization (NGO), non-political and non-profit-making charitable organization with a mandate for the promotion, protection, and realization of women’s human rights; the elimination of all forms of repugnant practices; and VAWG, with the aim of enhancing their living standards.
The organization seeks to advance and protect the rights of women as provided by national laws, policies, regional, international treaties and agreements.
WRAPA is supported by the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) to implement a two-year project titled “Legal and Social Empowerment Program on Women’s Rights in Kaduna and Plateau States”.
This projectseeks toachieve the effective implementation of the VAPP Law and passage of the Gender and Equal Opportunities Bill, which seeks to eliminate gender-based violence against women and girls and promote equal opportunities for beneficiaries of the project intervention, (women and girls).

Accepting this challenge to live the rest of your life to serve God, your Constituency, State and Nigeria at large is such a great step to take, like you have shown in your various assignments, especially, as the Director-General (D-G) of the Presidential Campaign in the 2023 general elections.
It is a fact that, your journey in the Nigerian political landscape has been characterized by successes, challenges, and contributions to public service, from being a Member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, to becoming its Speaker and later the Governor of Plateau State for 8 years.
Your tenure as a Governor and your roles in governance has continued to reflect your commitment to representing your constituents and contributing to the development of Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.
Although, the Petition No: EPT/PL/02/2023, filed by Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is challenging the conduct of the 18th March, 2023, Governorship election in Plateau State by INEC and the declaration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as winners, has entered Counsel’s Final Written Address Stage, many Legal minds have started ventilating their views on the Prosecution, the Defence and the Documents they have tendered during the hearing of the Petition.
You would recall that, REALITY had reported that, the Petitioners had called 49 witness in prosecuting their case, while Governor Caleb and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had called only 4 in defence of their victory. On its part, INEC called no witness.
Looking at the position of INEC, a Legal Practitioner, Emmanuel Eze (Esq), who spoke to REALITY in a Telephone interview, said that, “INEC’s position is akin to a C of O that one tendered and the Ministry of Lands and Survey refused to come to Court or Tribunal to authenticate it.
“INEC not calling any witness over their observed alleged PDP Repeated Congress of 25th September, 2021 is worrisome”.
Another Legal Practitioner, Samuel Jim (Esq), also in a Telephone interview, made a strong reminder of the enforcement of the Plateau State High Court’s Order by Hon. Justice Gang to the PDP.
He said, “The cure of this issue is still within the purvey of the PDP and not the Petitioners any longer, as the Petitioners are simply reminding the Tribunal that, an Order of Court has not been carried out of obeyed before the alleged Repeated State Congress and Primaries of the Party (PDP), towards the general elections of 2023”.
In summary, he highlighted that:
“The Judgment of PLASIEC up to Supreme Court was fully verified and presented by the Petitioners as of today to the Tribunal.
“The Judgment of Hon. Musa Agah up to Court of Appeal was fully verified and presented by the Petitioners as of today to the Tribunal.
“The malpractices that allegedly occurred at Naraguta ‘B’ is verified and presented by the Petitioners as of today to the Tribunal.
“The non-Conduct of Wards, Local Government and State Congresses was verified and presented by the Petitioners as of today to the Tribunal.
“The Purported Congress report was abandoned by INEC for Failure to lead Evidence as it stands today”.
Speaking on the contending issue of Jurisdiction presented by the APC and its candidates in the various Tribunal Panels in the state, you would recall that, the Petitioners and the APC in their several Petitions had argued and presented witnesses to the Tribunals that, the Federal High Court (Jos Division), which handled the Suit brought by one Augustine Timkuk against the PDP, declined hearing the Originating Summons on the grounds that, “It lacks Jurisdiction”.
Although the Respondents had dragged the attention of the Tribunal Panels to the findings of the FHC in its Judgment that, a State Congress was held on 25th September, 2021, they had further argued that the matter was dismissed both on its Merit and on Jurisdiction during Cross-Examinations of same.

Also speaking further on the video recently played to the Governorship Tribunal Panel concerning the congratulatory message by Hon. Bitrus Kaze, to the winners in the 25th September, 2021 State Congress of the PDP, Barr. Emmanuel (Esq) said, “The 3rd Respondent (PDP) was wise not to call Hon. Kaze as a witness or subpoenaed him.
“Secondly, the attention of the Tribunal has been drawn to the video as not pleaded. You see this at the address stage, aiming to destroyed the National Anthem of the Respondents that, “It was only the National Working Committee only that Conduct Elections in States”.
“From the last hearing you can observe that, the Counsel to the Petitioners, E. G. Pwajok (SAN) had objected to the admissibility of the documents tendered through Hon. Dakas Shan.
“He had told the Tribunal that, “Virtually all the documents tendered by Dakas Shan were never pleaded including the video tape.. SIC…it in as an exercise in futility”.
“On the Letter to Dakas Shan by the National Organizing Secretary, dated 28th April, 2022, it was for him to be in Plateau for Oversight as clearly stated in the content of the letter.
“The Report of Plateau State Gubernatorial Primary Election Committee, dated 26th May, 2022 signed by all the members of the Committee at Page 2 clearly stated that, Hon. Dakas Shan was in Jos with other Zonal Executives to coordinate and Oversee the exercise because there are issues with the State Exco of the Party in Plateau State.
“These two documents were tendered and identified by Hon. Dakas Shan and marked as EXH. 3RZ and ExH. 3RAM respectively”.
Many Nigerians have added their voices to praise the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN), Sen. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu for appointing his Director-General (DG) of Campaign, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN).
According to most Nigerians, it is a proper identification for Rt. Hon. lalong’s efforts of maintaining the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the central stage of the country’s politics and producing the Sen. Tinubun as President.
Speaking exclusively to REALITY on the ceremony slated today for the swearing-in of the Ministers today, a Special Assistant to the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abubakar Muhammed Badu said, “His Excellency, Rt, Hon. The Counsels, to the Governorship candidate of the All progressives Congress (APC) Plateau State, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, led by Y. H. Ruba (SAN) have raised alarm at the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jos, the Plateau State capital that, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not only trying to surprise them as Petitioners with a sudden intention to play a video clip to the Tribunal, but to ambush them.
The lead Counsel of the Petitioners, Ruba (SAN), called on the Tribunal Panel to protect them as Petitioners, while stating that, the item (Video) which is contained in a 2nd Schedule of Documents tendered today by the 3rd Respondent’s Counsel, Emeka Etiaba (SAN), “Was never pleaded, front loaded or served on the Petitioners”.
On this ground, the Tribunal has adjourned the matter to tomorrow 10am for continuation of defence by the PDP.
However, before adjourning, the Tribunal had ordered the 3rd Respondent to do the needful by making the item available for the Petitioners to assist them in cross examination, if need be.
From the proceedings today, the PDP has withdrawn its 1st Schedule of Documents tendered earlier and the Tribunal has struck out same.
Earlier, Governor Caleb (Esq), who is the 2nd Respondent to the Petition, had closed his case, relying on the evidence elicited from the three witnesses he called yesterday.
Closing Governor Caleb’s case on his behalf, his led Counsel, P. A. Akubo (SAN), in part, told the Tribunal that, “The matter is slated for continuation of defence of the 2nd Respondent. But, we bring the Tribunal good news today that, as part of our strategic plan, we have analyzed the evidence of the 47 witnesses of the Petitioners and have concluded that, 3 witnesses are enough to close our case and we have come to the conclusion to do so”.

They all also told the Tribunal that, BVAS were used in the election alongside, the Votes Register (VR) in accrediting voters in their Polling Units (PU) and other PUs during their Cross examination by the 1st and 2nd Respondents to the Petition respectively.
However, under cross examination by the Counsel to the Petitioners, Mathew Bukar (SAN), who was earlier led by E. G. Pwajok (SAN), the first witness Dang Choji (2RW1), told the Tribunal that, when polling unit officers run away with results, it does not mean the election is not credible. And that when he said INEC officers did their job credibly, he was not lying in his statement.

When confronted with Exhibit ‘U’, which is the Report of the alleged Repeated State Congress of the PDP, dated 25th September, 2021, he said, “this is not my document. It is my statement that is my document.”, which admitting that, exhibit 2RB6 has blank entries in items 4, 7, 15, 17, 21, 45, 76, 71, 91, 95 and 201.
When also confronted with Judgments of the Tribunal and Court of Appeal’s Judgment, dated 28th October, 2022, which has PDP and Hon. Musa Avia Agah vs Mohammad Adamu Alkali as parties, the witness, Mr. Dang said, “I know Agah, but I am not aware of the annulment of his electoral victory”.
To test his statement further, Mathew (SAN), asked if he stands on his statement that BVAS was used across the PUs in Naraguta B, which he claimed in his statement as he showed him Exhibit C44-C50.
Mr. Dang told the Tribunal that, “10 PUs entries of the BVAS report were blank”.
For Yohanna, who said he was the Collation Agent of the PDP in Jos North Local Government, told the Tribunal in part that, BVAS were used and results were entered in form EC8As and announced publicly after the PU results were collated at the Center into form EC8B before they were entered into forms EC8C and that, from the results, there is no need for a fresh election.
He further told the Tribunal that, 14 BVAS just disappeared as he stated and that he stands by his paragraph 5 of his statement on oath, while saying that, the Electoral Officer, Mr. Patrick G. P, did not participate or interfere with the collation.
However, under cross examination by the Counsel to the Petitioners, Yohanna told the Tribunal that, in C47, the place for accredited voters in A. A. Adams and Sani Santy in Angwan Rogo were blank in 2 of the 3.
In part he said, “I said that, in Naraguta B, code 10, the Electoral Officer disappeared. But I stated that, Election held and the BVAS were used”.
Adding that, “In 2021, I contested election for the Chairman Jos North LGC. My party and all other contestants, including me were disqualified from participating by PlASIEC, on the bases that our party is in disobedience of Court Order. My part challenged the disqualification from the High Court, to the Court of Appeal then the Supreme Court. However, it is not true that we lost.
“I have not seen the Judgment of the Supreme Court.
“I was the DG of Musa Agah Avia for the Jos North/Bassa bye-election, but I was not part of the Court Processes.
On the part of Mr. Dakogol, he told the Tribunal in part under Cross examination by Counsel to the 3rd Respondent, Emeka Etiba (SAN) that, “I don’t know anything about Ward, Local Government or state EXCOs of the PDP. I did not take part in the party nominations and I am not aware of the happenings in other Polling Units (PUs), for me to work on election day, the Ward Collation Agent of the PDP, gave me my tag. I cannot recognize BVAS’ Machine reports because I did not handle it or use it. Exhibit 2Rd5 is the result of my Polling Unit. I voted there and PDP won.
Also under cross-examination by the Counsel to the Petitioners, Mathew (SAN), Mr. Dakogol in part told the Tribunal that, “I don’t know anything about nomination in my party concerning candidates of EXCOs of the party. By my answer, I know of the Governorship Candidate of Caleb Mutfwang, but I don’t know the process of the party’s Congress.
“I don’t know if a Congress ever held, as a member of the party. I never heard it on the radio of PDP having a Congress. I have being a member since 1999”.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has dissociated himself from a National Daily Publication captioned: “How Governor Sule, plotted the exit of Abdullahi Adamu, Al Makura in Nasarawa state politics”.
The Governor has described it as, “the handwork of mischief makers whose stock in trade is sawing seeds of disunity”.
Addressing a press conference in Lafia Tuesday, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Affairs, Mr Peter Ahemba maintained that, “ordinary, his Excellency would have waved such a mischievous publication with a wave of the hand, but only for the potency it contained that would cause unnecessary friction between the Governor and the two political leaders in the state hence, it must be put in their rightful perspectives”.
He explained that, Governor Sule had at no time hidden his total respect to the duo of Al Makura and Adamu.
He also recalled that, “when Senator Al Makura re-contested for the Senate seat, Governor Sule, stood firmly and consistent in his support, while the Governor also threw same strength of support to Adamu, when he contested as the National Chairmanship of the APC”.
Mr. Ahemba, further explained that, “even though Senator Al Makura did not win the second term bid, he (Al Makura) being a democrat accepted the outcome of the election and demonstrated uncommon spirit of statesmanship by voluntarily withdrawing the matter from the Election Petition Tribunal”.
He said, “Of recent, when APC Governors in country were asked to submit three names each to the President for Ministerial appointment, Senator Al Makura’s name featured consistently on the list submitted by Governor Sule to the President for Nasarawa State”.
Adding that, “The Governor has no hands in Adamu’s exit as the APC, National Chairman”.
He described as mischievous the insinuations accusing the Governor of being the bane behind his voluntary resignation.
The SSA said, “When there were agitations in some quarters for ousting the APC National Chairman sometimes before his resignation, Governor Sule strongly stood against such a move not minding the consequences of his decision to his second term bid”.
Mr. Ahemba has however, re-assured the two political Giants in the state of Governor Sule’s unshaken loyalty.
Adding that, “He holds them in great esteemed and urged them to be wary of mischief makers, who have tried all they could to knock their heads together on several occasions, but have persistently failed in their bid”.
Nasarawa State Government is to commence the disbursement of palliative received from the Federal Government to Citizens in the state this week in order to help cushion the harsh economic hardship being experienced due to the fuel subsidy removal.
The state Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, dropped this cheering news Monday, while performing the swearing ceremony of sixteen newly appointed Commissioners that would serve in his cabinet.
Accordingly to the State Chief Executive, Government was not unmindful of the hardship being faced by its citizens as a result of the current economic downturn.
The Governor also took time to praise the citizens in state for their patience and understanding with Government.
Governor Sule, however, has assured the people of the state that, all the food items are already in custody of the State Government and a high powered Committee has already been setup and charged with the responsibility of disbursing all the items.
While calling on the good people of the state to continue to be patient with the government, Engineer Sule, tasked the newly appointed Commissioners to imbibe the culture of transparency and tolerance with the public in the discharged of their official engagements, which he described as “the trade mark of his administration”.
He disclosed further that, in an effort to ensure that people at the grassroots benefit from the palliative, Committees comprising of religious, youths, market women and traditional leaders would be set up in villages to ensure that the food items get to them.
He called on those to be trusted with this all important assignment to exhibit the fear of God, “as anyone caught in shoddy deals will surely be dealt with accordance with the law of the land”.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Commissioner, Ministry for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Tijjani Aliyu Ahmed, appreciated the Governor for finding them worthy of the appointments.
He promised that, they would put in their best to justified the confidence reposed on them.
The hearing of Petition No: EPT/PL/SEN/06/2023, filed by Amb. Gulkuna Yohanna Gotom, commenced today, with the Petitioners tendering huge numbers of Certified True Copies (CTCs) of INEC documents, which were used in conducting and announcing the results of the Plateau Central Senatorial District election conducted on the 25th of February, 2023.
The documents are result sheets EC8A series from Mangu, Bokkos and Kanam Local Government Areas (LGAs), with a huge number coming from Mangu and Kanam LGAs of Plateau State.
Prof. Sylvester Silke (SAN), Counsel to the Petitioners, tendered from the Bar, over 21 CTCs of INEC results out of 27 from Munbou, Dengi Wards and Bakin Kasuwa in Kantena Wards, as listed from the 1st Schedule of Documents to be relied on, dated the 12th of August, 2023, but filed on the 13th of August 2023.
In its 5th list of items, the Petitioners have also tendered 14 EC8A1 series, from Mangu and Kanam LGAs.
Although, INEC’s Counsel, Sani Rabiu (Esq), the Counsel to the 2nd and 3rd Respondents, A. G. Yirvous (Esq) and S. S. Obende (Esq) have respectively objected to the admissibility of the documents and to provide the reasons at the address stage, the Tribunal has admitted them in Evidence for now..
The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday, the 16th of August, 2023, for continuation of hearing.
AMB. GOTOM
In an interview with Amb. Gotom by Journalists at the Court Premises, he said, “Sen. Diket Plang, one of the Respondents to my Petition, came and left simply because, he has heard the tone of events in the Tribunal.
“You can see that, the Tribunal has admitted items in our Schedule of Documents 1 to 7. As you will find out like the Tribunal will, facts and figures don’t lie.
“As an Accountant, we are used to figures. We also take figures to theaters and operate on them so, you can’t deceive me with figures. So, it is not wise to have cooked figures and tender them on us.
“You can see that, the Lawyers are even very surprised seeing the manipulations in most of the documents we just tendered.
“For my opponent that has come and left today, he has seen it all! So, I expect he should just come and tender an apology so that we can adopt him in Abuja.
“I want to say this in Hausa; Abokin Barawo, shima Barawo ne. (A friend of a Thief is also a Thief).
SEN. DIKET
However, reacting to the issue and accusations made earlier by Amb. Gotom that, Sen. Diket Plang, has abandoned the people of the Central Zone and the hearing of the Petition, Sen. Diket, in a separate interview told Journalist that:
“I am Sen. Diket Plang, Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District of Plateau State. I have been voted to represent the good people of Plateau Central district at the senate. I am a member of the 10th Senate. I know you people will visibly know that, that I am one of the Senators represent Plateau State.
“You will also know that, I am the only Senator from Plateau State that is Chairing a Committee. I am also one of the first Senators to present a Bill that has passed through the FIRST READING.
“You also know that, I brought the first Motion on the issues in Plateau State, with about 5 prayers that were unanimously accepted.
“You will know that, the prayers on my Motion were that, the security operatives should shift to Mangu Local Government Area. One of my prayers is that the Services Chiefs should go to the sight and they went. Another is that, NEMA should be able to supply palliatives.
“If anybody says that, I have abandoned my constituents, it implies that, I am not in any plenary and that I am excluded from the activities of the chambers.
“But, if I am there for the people, then my presences is visible. If the people voted me to be in Abuja, I have being there maximally!’
You would recall that, REALITY had reported that, as the Petition No: EPT/PL/SEN/06/2023, filed by Amb. Gulkuna Yohanna Gotom, concluded its Pre-hearing Session and commencement of hearing fixed by the Tribunal, the 1st Petitioner, Amb. Gotom had accused, Sen. Diket Plang, of allegedly abandoning his constituents and the case against him via the Petition over his declared victory by INEC at the polls.
He made this accusation in an interview with Journalists at the premises of the Tribunal, after the Petition was adjourned to 14/16 of August, 2023.
Amb. Gotom, accused Sen. Diket Plang, of allegedly abandoning the people of his zone in Plateau Central, “over desperation and ambition to stay in the Red Chambers of National Assembly’.
