EDITORIAL: WHY MEDIA HOUSES, PRACTITIONERS, SHOULD IGNORE FACELESS PRESS STATEMENTS AND PRESS RELEASES IN PLATEAU

It is a fact that the history of the media cannot ignore the role Post Offices played by publishing letters written through them.

It is also in Media Practice that Press Statements and Press Releases like the Post Office's purpose of publishing abandoned letters operate in different capacities and relevance.

While the Press Statement is to enable society or a particular State, Community or Group to understand an issue(s) and the position taken by the writers or authors on it, the Press Release is to alert the public of a new or strange development.

OPINION: WHY I LOVE THE STRIDES AND BIAS STANDS OF RT. HON. YUSUF GAGDI

By: Samueltomzy,

When Plateau decides to rise against a person, it is always decisive. The energy and passion can be akin to the rage of a motivated Dog within its domain.

I remember the energy and passion that was on display, when the people of the Central Senatorial Zone of Plateau State, took a firm stand against Senator Nasiru Mantu, who was at that time a sitting Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate. The people made their choice, and it prevailed despite all odds. Even in 2015, when the people revolted against Baba Jang for trying to impose on them the late Senator GNS Pwajok. And again against the same Senator now Simon Lalong, whom they fought so hard to see his emergence as the Governor of Plateau State.

The ability of Plateau people to unite against the candidate they do not approve of must be celebrated.

EDITORIAL: GOVERNOR MUTFWANG’S MEDIA APPOINTMENTS: WHAT NIGERIAN GOVERNORS MUST LEARN

The country Nigeria has been over heated by huge level of insecurity and poor information network, within and among government operatives. The country has in the past horrible years been fed with rumours, as information from renowned credible sources have declined or reduced to a small number, and the effect(s) in most cases have led to poor decision making by Government and its Operatives/Appointees in the implementation of strategic policies and plans.

The masses have suffered most because they have constantly been fed with half-truths, of the policies of state administrations, owing to the fact that, the information getting to the people apart from been classified as grapevine, gossip or scuttlebutt, the methods adopted in processing them in most times are linked to political interest groups and supporters of the administration as the case may be, who may not be professionals in information gathering for strategic purpose(s).

More also, the needed propagators of the various administrations’ Strategic Polices across the country, have been limited in weight and value, with the way Media Practitioners take the stage in their various platforms, compromising the main purpose(s) of government.

PLATEAU: BREAKING: A-G PLATEAU STATE, MAY GO ON APPEAL OVER REFUSAL OF COURT TO CONSOLIDATE CASES

By: Amb. Valentine Adese (JP),

The Attorney-General of Plateau State has indicated that he would appeal against the ruling of the Plateau State High Court presided over by Hon. Justice Samchi, which refused his Application to Consolidate the case he has with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), which has been transferred to Plateau State from Abuja, with the ongoing case between the suspended 17 Local Government Council Chairmen and their Councilors in the 17 Local Government Councils of Plateau State.

It is of note that in its ruling on the Application yesterday, the Plateau State High Court presided over by Hon. Justice Samchi held that the Application suffered from “Multiple Defects” and therefore, “Grossly Unmeritorious”.

The Judge held that the Application and Motion Paper deprived the Court of several details of the issues before the Federal High Court (FHC), Abuja, and that the applicant for the consolidation failed to show that the issues in the two cases are similar.

AN OPEN LETTER TO GEN. YAKUBU GOWON (RtD)

MY DEAR GRANDFATHER JACK, WHAT DID YOU DO TO MAKE NIGERIA A BETTER PLACE FOR US?—SAMUELTOMZY

Dear Mr. Jack,

I write from the position of pain and undue pressure, when you compare my situation with that of a prince walking on foot, while his servants ride on horseback.

This letter is in response to your recent statement containing words of encouragement, to disgruntled people under the uneasy leadership of our tough captain, who is steering a disjointed train heading to an unknown destination, under the mantra of Renewed Hope.

Your words emphasized that the masses endure the lashing on their backs similar to the ordeals of their ancestors, on the American plantations, which peaked during the 15th century, while the leader of the train remains courageous, like the taskmaster as he keeps up with the vision of rebuilding a broken nation, if at all it was ever built.
