JUST IN: APC'S BASSA/JOS-NORTH PRIMARY ELECTION ON-GOING, AS PDP PREPARES FOR TOMORROW

The All Progressives Congress (APC) bye-election for Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency of Plateau State, is on-going, as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is planning to conduct its by tomorrow, 3rd February, 2022.

You would recall that, INEC has fixed the 26th of this month (February) to conduct election to fill the vacant seat at the National Assembly, which is made vacant because of the sudden death of its former occupant, late Hon. Haruna Maitala.

AT THE VENUE

The on-going bye election of the APC has been taking place at Lamond Hotel at Apollo Crescent in Jos, since the 1st of February, 2022.

Aspirants, who are contesting the ongoing election and those who dropped, are as follows:

Hon. Chindo Gona, Hon. Geoffrey Teme, Adamu Aliyu, Abubakar Shuaibu, Peter Akujah, Joseph Abbey, Suleiman Kwande, Lumumba Dah Adeh and Pascal Haruna Maitala.

AT THE VENUE

Information however reaching REALITY indicates that, Haruna Maitala, Hon. Geoffrey Teme, Adamu Aliyu, dropped, while Abubakar Shuaibu, was disqualified from the race by the party.

As at the time of preparing this report, the organizers are collating and sorting the votes for counting at the venue.

On its part, the PDP is also preparing to conduct its bye election for the same constituency in the same venue tomorrow.

YAKUBU CHOCHO

Disclosing the state of preparation to REALITY, the Organizing Secretary of the Plateau State chapter of the party, Hon. Yakubu Chocho said, the bye election is expected to commence by 8.00am tomorrow morning.

He said, 3 persons have been cleared by the screening committee and have been issued clearance certificates to contest the primary election.

“Hon. Jonathan Dabo, Hon. David Racha and Musa Avia Agah have been cleared to contest”. He disclosed.

Adding that, “In all, the party is expecting close to 400 delegates at the venue, from the 14 federal wards in Jos North and 16 in Bassa Local Governments”.

He however, took time to warn that, anybody apart from the organizers, the officers, delegates and the security, are not expected at the venue in other to have proper control of the exercise.
