BREAKING: PLATEAU STATE PDP CHAIRMAN AND EXCO, MAY RUN INTO ANOTHER PROBLEM, AS SUIT NO. PLD/P36/2021, FILED BY MUHAMMED ABDULWAHAB & 2 ORS, ENTERS JUDGMENT STAGE

The suit, No. PLD/P36/2021, filed by Muhammed Abdulwahab and two others member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before the Plateau State High Court, challenging their alleged, unlawful replacement and substitution after taking oath of office has entered judgment stage.

You would recall that, Muhammed Abdulwahab, Abubakar Ali and Hamisu Adamu, suing for themselves as Chairmen and on behalf of Members of Gumshar,  Kanam and Jamai Ward Executive Committees and 3 adhoc delegates from the Wards, elected on the 14th of September, 2021, have dragged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Plateau State PDP Chairman, Hon. Chris Hassan to Court (for himself, and on behalf of the State Executive Committee elected on the 25th of September, 2021), for alleged, unlawful replacement and substitution after taking oath of office.

Other Defendants on the face of the suit are, Adamu Nasiru Garba, Hassan Yakubu, Sani Ibrahim and muhammed Adamu Mawo (for themselves as purported Chairmen and on behalf of the Members of Gumshar, Kanam, Jamai wards), Kanam Local Government Executive Committee, One national delegate) and INEC.

The suit No. PLD/P36/2021, which came by way of Originating Summons, is brought pursuant to, Section 223(1)(A)&(2)(A) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN), sections of the Electoral act 2010 (as amended), the Constitution of the PDP and Guidlines for the conduct of Ward, LGA, State, Zonal Congresses and the National Convention

The Originating Summons taken out by M. B. Abdullahi (Esq), you would recall, is seeking for an order of the Plateau State High Court, setting aside the Congress conducted by the PDP (1st Defendant), the election of Hon. Chris Hassan (2nd Defendant), as Chairman and Members of the 1st Defendant’s State Executive Committee and the 6th Defendant, as the Chairman and Members of the Kanam Local Government Executive Committee for being unconstitutional, unlawful, null, void and of no effect whatsoever.

Secondly, an order directing Chris Hassan to vacate and cease forthwith from acting as Chairman and Members of the 1st Defendant’s State Executive Committee and the 6th Defendant  to vacate and cease forthwith from acting as the Chairman and Members of the Kanam LG Executive Committee, among others.
