NASARAWA: ECONOMIC HARDSHIP: FG DISTRIBUTES FOOD ITEMS AND FERTILIZERS. MORE STATES TO BENEFIT—SEN. OLUREMI TINUBU

The Federal Government has concluded plans to donate one trailer load of rice, and fertilizers with a whopping sum of #50,000 to a total number of 1000 women in each state of the federation including Abuja.

The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, disclosed this Tuesday while distributing food items to a total of Six Hundred vulnerable, people living with disability in Lafia the Nasarawa state capital.

Represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Kashim Shetima stated that the distribution of the food items is a result of the hardship caused by some of the government policies introduced to correct some of the wrongs in the past.

 According to the First Lady, the Federal Government is not unaware of the hardship Nigerians, especially the vulnerable and those living with disability are going through as a result of some of these policies hence, the need for the government to take necessary action to cushion the effect of this hardship on the masses.

Senator Oluremi said her initiative of distributing the food items to the needy is in line with the Federal Government’s policy of not allowing the vulnerable to be overburdened with government policies that are aimed at restoring the country to its lost glory.

She said, “So far, Kano and Nasarawa States are the first beneficiaries of this her important programs, adding that, “The next state in line is Benue State”.

The wife of Nasarawa State Governor, Hajiya Slifat Abdullahi Sule, was full of praises to the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi for her kind gestures while advising the beneficiaries against selling off the food items and making sure they are judiciously used.

She disclosed that her husband the State Governor has embarked on similar programs aimed at assisting those in need.

In his speech, the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule said, “The First Lady's gesture will no doubt give hope to both the vulnerable and people living with disability in our midst”.

Represented by his Deputy, Dr. Emanuel Akabe, Engineer Sule pledged to sustain this kind gesture of the First Lady.

The APC Chairman in the state, Alh Aliyu Bello, told the beneficiaries that his Party members would keep an eagle eye on the market and promised to ensure that those who sold theirs are arrested and prosecuted to serve, as a deterrent to others.

The Vice President’s wife was accompanied by the wives of the Senate President, the Speaker House of Representatives, the Governor of Kogi State, and that of Yobe State.
