PLATEAU: THE PROBLEM CHAIRMAN AYUKU PWASPO HAS NOT SOLVED DOES NOT EXIST IN PLATEAU STATE NUJ COUNCIL

It is getting to one year now when members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Plateau State Council, elected their leaders to govern, administer, and manage their affairs.

Before now, the worries of members of the Council had centered on the lack of unity and the willingness among members to pursue democratic stability for the state.

The quest, mission, expedition, and goals of each member were more driven by personal interest(s), and political relevance rather than, for collective gains until Mrs. Ayuku Pwaspo and her able working team emerged out of a stiffly contested election. 

MRS. AYUKU, PLATEAU NUJ CHAIRMAN

The workings of the new EXCO of the Plateau State Council of the NUJ currently being led by Mrs. Ayuku in the past few months has not only given direction to the Council but has relatively caused unity among members towards a focus-driven objective of placing the Pen Profession in the state in an envious position.  

You would recall that History has it that Mrs. Ayuku is the first female elected Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (UNJ) Plateau State Council.

 Her stride and feat so far achieved for the Union within this period under review, can perfectly be compared to various leaderships that had spent two terms in the Council.

Members have continued to hold, submit, and acknowledge that Chairman Ayuku’s fostering of unity among members of the union in the interest of the noble Journalism Profession is the first shot at her successful leadership in a few months.

Although, Mrs. Ayuku is in the driver’s seat for the Council, others in the Exco who are assisting her to achieve her campaign promises include Mr. Pam Musa (Vice Chairman), Mary Domtur (Secretary), Mr. Ezekiel D. Izang (Financial Secretary), Timothy Tyem (Asst Secretary), Lyop Pam (Treasurer) and Celestine Astar (Auditor) among others.

In various assessments made by members of the Union in the state concerning the leadership style of Chairman Ayuku, which includes members of REALITY Chapel of the Plateau State Council, they have submitted, succumbed, and bowed to the fact that “Her recognition of the invaluable contribution of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), to the growth of Democracy in Plateau State and Nigeria at large is key to the course she defined towards her success.

“Secondly, her constant bold and continuous call on members of the Union to uphold the ethics of the Pen Profession which guides their jobs for humanity in every fora is a plus that is enabling her to achieve a huge part of her campaign promises in a short time”.

“You would recall that Chairman Ayuku had in the past few months, prioritized the welfare, well-being, and rights of Journalists in the state”. Most members who had granted interviews on this subject matter have stated.

Adding that, “Journalists in the state in the last few months can attest to her ability to promote a conducive environment to the practice of their profession on the Plateau successfully”.
