TIVS IN NASARAWA STATE: ALLOW US TO SOLVE OUR PROBLEMS! GOV. SULE PLEADS WITH GOV. ORTOM, AS HE GAINS TIV COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule has  appealed to the Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, to always allow the Nasarawa State Government handle issues that affect Tiv community that are indegenious to Nasarawa State

The Governor made this appeal, while addressing the Tiv community in Nasarawa State, who paid him a courtesy call at the Nasarawa State Government House yesterday, 1st September, 2022.

Governor Sule in his appeal, explained that, the  State is capable of handling its internal crises without seeking external assistance from a neighboring state.

Governor Sule, who dwelled much on the need for peaceful co-existence amongst the various communities in the state in his speech, reassured the Tiv Community who have in the past suffered senseless attack from unknown gunmen of adequate protection at all times.

He said his administration, “will never discriminate against any tribe in the state”.

According to the Governor, “Tiv people have equal rights on the resources of the state”.

Concerning the forth coming elections, the Governor advice them not to allow themselves to be deceived on the basis of religion, as the state does not believe in Muslim, Muslim ticket.

He expressed satisfaction over the way and manner in, which the leadership of the Tiv Development Association (TIDA) has been handling the affairs of the Tiv community in the state and instantly announced a donation of a bus to the Association for the running of its activities.

In his remarks, former Vice Chancellor, Federal University Agriculture, Makurdi, Prof. Emmanuel Kucha commended the peace initiative of Governor Sule. He acknowledged that, “the Tiv community in the state have never had so peaceful like now”.

He therefore appealed to the Governor to keep the flag flying.

Also contributing, Senator Jack Tilley Gyado, who used the occasion to drum support for Engineer Sule’s second term bid, told the Tiv gathering that they should not have any one to vote for as governor in the state, apart from Governor Sule. He described him as, a caring Governor.

Earlier, in his opening speech, the President of the Tiv Development Association (TIDA) in the state, Comrade Peter Ahemba, had described the peace building efforts of the Governor since the Creation of the state as, second to none. He explained that, with the Governor’s coming to office just within a period of three years, the Tiv people that were chased out of their enclaves due to the crises have since returned and have embarked on meaningful farming, which has resulted in bumper harvest in the state.

Comrade Ahemba, commended the transparent attitude of the Governor, for returning the sum of #20 million Naira to the coffers of APC in the last Presidential primary elections of the party through the Publicity Committee, which he was the Chairman.

He said in an effort to compliment the peace initiative of the Governor, TIDA officials, under his leadership have embarked on a tour of the entire villages in the state to conscientice them to live in peace with their neighbors.

The TIDA President appealed to the Governor to assist them with mobility to assist them in this onerous task.

He assured the Governor of one hundred percent support in the forth coming elections.
