BREAKING: ARREST SHEIKH YAHAYA JINGIR NOW! GROUP URGES PLATEAU STATE GOVT, SECURITY OPERATIVES

By: Valentine Adese (JP),

Another group has added its voice to the various voices calling for the arrest of an Islamic leader, Sheikh Yahaya Jingir, by the Plateau State Government and the security organizations/institutions operating in Plateau State and the country at large.

The Movement for the Survival of Plateau People (MOSOP) has called for the arrest and prosecution of Sheikh Yahaya Jingir, over an alleged inciting statement credited to him  ahead of the governorship poll in Plateau  state.

In a joint statement signed and issued in Jos, the capital of Plateau State and made available to REALITY, the President of MOSOP, Solomon Bako and the General Secretary, Ibrahim Audu, described the statement by Sheikh Jingir as “a threat to peace in Plateau State”.

It would be recalled that, Sheikh Jingir, while recently  canvassing for support for his preferred governorship candidate  in Plateau State was quoted as calling on the Muslims  to vote the APC candidate, Dr. Nentawe because for him, “it will be a win for Islam on the Plateau”.

In another video, which has gone viral in the  Social Media, the Islamic leader also described the  Berom ethnic nationality and other Plateau tribes as killers even as he called on Muslims in Jos North-North not to vote for the PDP candidate, Barrister CALEB MUTFWANG, while also labeling him as a Berom Candidate.

The Movement for the Survival of Plateau People stated that, the statement by the Islamic leader was a threat to the peace in the state, adding that, security operatives should arrest and prosecute him, while maintaining that, “The people of Plateau State cannot afford to extend their suffering and bad governance brought upon them by the APC administration in the last eight  years, which made them to clamour for change in  support of the PDP governorship  candidate”.

The group also urged the state government not to “fold its hand and watch some people use religion to cause trouble for the state under the guise of politics”.
