The former governor of Plateau State, Sen. Jonah David Jang has called on the people of Plateau State, the Obidents and other lovers of the state to join hands with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to redeem the heritage of the state in the coming Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections slated for 11th March, 2023.
Sen. Jang in a statement tagged: “OUTCOME OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: THE PLATEAU PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN”, which he personally signed and made available to media houses in the state, also called on the people of the state to come out in their numbers on Saturday, 11th March 2023, to vote for the governorship candidate of the PDP, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang and other candidates of the party for the State House of Assembly elections.
“I call on all, including the Obidents, not to lose faith, but join hands with the PDP to redeem our heritage. We must insulate Plateau by voting for the PDP and must force INEC to make our votes count. No retreat No surrender!” Sen. Jang stated.
In his advice, he also urged the electorates in the state to protect their votes.
“We must all vote and protect our votes; remember, they can only rig the election when the votes are not watched”. He stated.
While thanking the people of the state for voting for PDP in the Presidential and National Assembly elections last Saturday, Sen. Jang said, “May I use this opportunity to thank the good people of Plateau for speaking clearly with their ballots in voting for candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Senate and House of Representatives elections and congratulate the winners of the election.
“The pains and lessons of the past eight years, where we had the APC in government both in Plateau and at the national level, but have had no benefit is instructive. The outcome of the Presidential polls has shown where the leanings of Plateau people are; an APC government in the state is a subscription to further neglect, as experienced in the last eight years.
“Let’s not forget that, the last eight years brought us untold hardship; we were almost robbed of our identity. Forces alien to us took control and nearly destroyed everything we stood for, all in an attempt to curry personal favour from the government at the center; we cannot afford to endure another eight years of total misrule; we must resist those, who attempt to coerce our mind into believing that, we are second class people.
“Let us, therefore, vote for a Governor, who will have the backing of the State and National Assembly members in pursuing the interests of the Plateau people.
“The time to act is now!
“The decision to build a virile Plateau where an unending peace reigns is ours to make. We must not sit on the fence; we must defend our heritage, not just for ourselves, but for our children and the on-coming generations”.

OUTCOME OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: THE PLATEAU PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN
The Presidential election of 25th February has come and gone. It may not have been our desire or preference, but only time will reveal what is best for our dear country Nigeria as it pleases God almighty.
The Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are almost here, and it is hoped that, urgent steps will be taken to close the ranks, shelve all differences, and pursue the election as a common front. The manipulated presidential poll should propel us to do what is right to put all our candidates on a winning streak.
We should not allow our emotions to overtake our sense of purpose at this time; the successes achieved in the past election must be the driving force for more outstanding achievements in the forthcoming polls, which are, indeed, local. Having secured 5 out of 8 House of Representatives positions and 2 Senatorial positions already in the kitty with a third on the horizon, we should be working hard to install a Governor and a House of Assembly, who will join hands to stand for the interest of our dear state.

Therefore, I call on the people of the plateau to come out in their numbers on Saturday, March 11th, to vote for the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, and other candidates of the party for State House of Assembly elections. We must all vote and protect our votes; remember, they can only rig the election when the votes are not watched.
We must not forget that the ruling APC has been in power both at the Federal and State level yet we were impoverished, without any tangible development, our people were dispossessed of their possessions, some were killed, some others maimed, while the State looked elsewhere including the candidate of the Labour party in Plateau State, who was a member of the APC, but quickly jumped to the Labour party after the APC primaries. He cannot claim to be different from those with whom they superintended hardship on the people for close to eight years.
I call on all, including the Obidents, not to lose faith but join hands with the PDP to redeem our heritage. We must insulate Plateau by voting for the PDP and must force INEC to make our votes count. No retreat No surrender.
All election stakeholders, INEC, and security agencies inclusive must do what is necessary to forestall a repeat of the shortcomings of the Presidential and National Assembly polls. INEC, in particular, should recognize that the destiny of the over 200 million Nigerians has been entrusted to them, and setting the nation on fire, willfully, either by omission or commission is unpatriotic and only posterity will judge. The Governorship and State Houses of Assembly election presents another opportunity for INEC to redeem itself from the general poor perception Nigerians hold about the Commission.
