FG vs SEN. JANG & ANOTHER: COURT ADJOURNS ADOPTION OF FINAL WRITTEN ADDRESSES TO 14TH JULY, 2022

By: Valentine Adese (JP),

The Plateau State High Court presided over by Hon. Justice C. Dabub, trying the case between the Federal Government and Senator Jonah Jang (a former Governor of Plateau State) and Mr. Yusuf Pam (a former Cashier in the office of the SSG), which is been prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has adjourned the adoption of final written addresses of Counsels in the matter to the 14th of July, 2022.

You would recall that, the Defendants are being charged for allegedly looting the funds of Plateau State, during the era of Jang as Governor of the state.

Although the Court had earlier slated the adoption for 1st July, 2022, it could not hold, as the EFCC filed its written address out of time.

However, the Court has granted the application for extension of time to file the address of the EFCC, after listening to the application moved by the Counsel to the EFCC, as it was not opposed by the Defendants.

The Court also yesterday, has deemed all the final written addresses of all parties in the matter, as properly filed and served.

You would recall that, the Counsel to Sen. Jang (1st Defendant) and the Counsel to Mr. Yusuf Pam (2nd Defendant) had earlier filed their addresses within time.
