The Governorship candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Mr. David Ombugadu has opined that, only Nigerians can free themselves out of the current pains and agony inflicted on them by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr. Ombugadu, who made this assertion, while addressing thousands of party loyalists, who converged in Awe, the Headquarters of Awe Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State, during a campaign rally yesterday, also noted with dissatisfaction that, the rewards Nigerians are getting for giving the APC their mandates in the past Seven (7) years has continually been untold hardships, lies and misappropriation of their funds.
He said the only way out of this current quack mire is the total rejection of all APC candidates in next year’s general elections.
“The ball is in our court, we can make or mare our freedom by ourselves, and I am quite convince that we have learnt our lessons the harder way and we can no longer be fooled anymore” He declared.
Hon. Ombugadu, charged Nigerians to compare and contrast the period when PDP was in power and when the present leadership of the APC took over.
Adding that, “every right thinking person must know that time has come for APC leadership to park their loads and go for ever so as to give way for the PDP to come and commence reconstruction of the total mess brought about as a result of their APC misruled”.
The PDP Governorship candidate however, was full of praises to PDP supporters in the Southern Zone of the state, for turning out in their numbers to receive the leadership of the party in the zone.
He described their response as a total indication that APC has been rejected not only in the zone, but in the entire state and the Nation at large.
“Next year is around the corner, please, make sure that, you vote for only PDP candidates from the State House of Assembly, to the presidential level.
“This will guarantee the smooth running of the administration”, He further stated.
In his remarks at the rally, the State Chairman of PDP, Mr. Francis Orogu, explained that, being fully aware of the damages caused in the state, due to the misrule by the APC, the party has careful selected people with proven integrity to take over the administration of the state come next year.
He said, “In reconstructing a failed state, you need people that are highly experience to carry out such difficult task”.
On the same line, a former BOT Chairman of the party, Alh. Walid Jibril said, in an effort to bring about lasting peace in the party, he had to relinquish his position as the BOT Chairman, as a way of checking the dominance of the party positions by Northerners.
Our correspondent, who covered the rally observed that, the field of the rally, which was given to the opposition party by the local administration, was at the outskirt of the town, yet, it was fill to capacity against the expectation of the ruling party.
