Many Nigerians have added their voices to praise the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN), Sen. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu for appointing his Director-General (DG) of Campaign, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN).
According to most Nigerians, it is a proper identification for Rt. Hon. lalong’s efforts of maintaining the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the central stage of the country’s politics and producing the Sen. Tinubun as President.
Speaking exclusively to REALITY on the ceremony slated today for the swearing-in of the Ministers today, a Special Assistant to the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abubakar Muhammed Badu said, “His Excellency, Rt, Hon. Simon Bako Lalong’s appointment by President Bola Tinubu, as the Minister for Labour and Employment is a round peg in a round hole and he deserves it!”
In part, Hon. Muhammed, who was also a former Commissioner for Information Plateau State said:-
“I am, Hon. Abubakar MUhammed Badu (Dan Malikin Wase), I was a former Chairman of Wase Local Government Council (LGC) of Plateau State, then became Commissioner of Information Plateau State. I was a Special Assistant to the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the 9th Assembly of the House of Representatives.
“We are very grateful that our former Governor, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong is going to be sworn-in today by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
“His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Lalong’s appointment, is a mark of identification and the realization that, he has added value to the movement of the APC and that of the President, while he served as his Director-General (D-G) of his campaign.
“The distractions of the D-G came because, he found himself in a tight corner. First, he came from Shendam Local Government Area (LGA) where the residents and citizens are predominately Christians.
“He was also faced with propagandas from the opposition political party in the state that, he was promoting a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
“However, notwithstanding all these, he His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Lalong, stood his ground being a Nationalist and a Hero in National Politics. He took time to debunk most of these propagandas that were making the rounds in the state and the country at large.
“Honestly, it was a difficult task for the D-G, but he succeeded!
“This is because the Presidency is not a Shendam or Plateau affair alone. It is a National issue and only Nationalists like Lalong among others saw it from their standing points.
“He actually has suffered a lot politically and administratively from his immediate constituents on this very innocent issue.
‘We are however, proud to say that, the portfolio selected for Rt. Hon. Lalong, Labour and Employment is very perfect!
“I can confidently say, it is a round peg in a round hole.
“This is because, His Excellency, as a former Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly and a Governor of Plateau State for 8 years has been Labour friendly.
“Throughout his 8 years as the Governor of the state, there was no major face-off with Labour. He was even nicked named, “Governor Alert” by the State’s Civil Servants throughout his tenure..
“He made sure that all the benefits and allowance of workers and pensioners were paid, as and when due!”
