BREAKING: NASARAWA: LABOUR’S PROTEST LETTER RECEIVED BY HEAD OF SERVICE

Nasarawa State workers have joined the Nationwide protest called, over the hike in the price of petroleum caused by the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) .

The Unions consist of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

The protested started from Total Filling Station Lafia to the office of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe.

Speaking at the event on Wednesday in Lafia, Comr. Ismaila Oko, the state NLC Chairman, called on the Federal Government (FG) to reconsider the action, while point at the hardship the workers and the masses are going through since the subsidy was removed.

The NLC Chairman added that, the government should immediately roll out whatever they have to do to improve the lives the workers and the masses before things get out of control.

“The whole salaries of workers are now being spent on transportation to our various offices since May 29, that subsidy was announced to have been removed.

“Workers can no longer cater for the school fees of their children, feed their family members and live up to other responsibilities in the family.” Comr. Oko, added.

On his part, Comr. Mohammed Doma, TUC Chairman, tasked the government to act fast to address the increasing hike in the price of petroleum.

He added that, “How can the country be producing petroleum and buy a litter at the exorbitant price that most people cannot afford.

“Our salaries cannot take care of our transportation to our offices alone and we are suffering,” the TUC Chairman added.

The Union there after, submitted a protest letter to the Head of Civil Service, Barr. Abigail Waya.

The Head of Civil Service, lauded the workers for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the match.

Barr. Abigail Waya, further said that, “Already, Committees for Palliative are being constituted by the Federal Government and Nasarawa State Government.

She however, promised to brief the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule about their issues and submit the letter to him.
