BREAKING: A NIGERIAN, REV. DR. JOHN ABUBAKAR, O.S.A. PhD, BECOMES CHIEF SUSTAINABILITY OFFICER OF VILLANOVA UNIVERSITY

A Nigerian, Rev. John Abubakar OSA, PhD, has been announced as the Chief Sustainability Officer of Villanova University.

Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, the President of Villanova University, made this disclosure during his welcoming address to new and returning students of the University.

In his message, dated 23rd August 2023, Rev. Peter M. Donohue OSA, PhD, in part said, “I am pleased to share that Rev. John Abubakar OSA, PhD, has been named Chief Sustainability Officer at Villanova, effective immediately.

“In his role, Fr, John will serve as the Chair of the Sustainability Leadership Council, the campus group overseeing Villanova’s Sustainability initiatives, and endeavour to establish an ethos of sustainability in our University Community by advancing Villanova’s Sustainability Plan.

“He will also promote sustainability agreement through educational opportunities and provide expertise and guidance for sustainability planning, design and operation”.

Rev. Peter also disclosed to the University Community that, Fr. John is a Nigerian.

He said, “Fr. John joins us from Nigerian Augustinian Province, where he was ordained in 2004”.

From, Rev. Peter’s message made available to REALITY, the formal welcoming address of the new and returning students is slated for Thursday, 31st August, 2023.

According to the President, the event is one among many events that he always looks forward to.

He said, ‘I always look forward to the start of each academic year, as it brings new faces, new stories and new experiences to Villanova Community”.
