A Coalition, chaired by one Mr. Mark Benedict has adopted and supported the bid of Hon. Timothy Golu, to run for the Governorship seat of Plateau State come 2023, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
You would recall that, Hon. Dr. Timothy Golu is the first to register his aspiration for the number one seat of Plateau State in the forthcoming general election slated for 2023, at the Plateau state chapter of the PDP recently.
A press statement signed by the Chairman and his Secretary, Mr. Muks Gyipyo respectively, and made available to REALITY, has called on all PDP faithful, irrespective of interest, to stand in unison with and for Hon. Dr. Golu, as the next party flag bearer for the 2023 governorship election for Plateau State.
According to the Coalition, their choice of Hon. Dr. Golu, is based on his track record of achievements, at both the State and Federal Houses of Assembly.
“Our choice of the young and vibrant Dr. Golu, a political scientist and holder of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in International Relations and Strategic Studies is because of his political experience having served as Member/ Chief Whip of the Plateau State House of Assembly and Chairman House Committee on Land, (2011- 2015) and Member House of Representatives and Chairman House Committee on Legislative Budget and Research (2015-2019).
“This illustrious son of the soil has served both the state and the nation meritorious demonstrating capacity and in dept understanding of democratic governance, and hence his readiness and willingness to match theory with practice.
“It is therefore with utmost humility that, after a thorough search among many equally qualified aspirants. We found Dr. Golu, the suitable aspirant from PKK to lead the state come 2023 under the banner of our great party.
“Golu has been politically effective and potent for the last one decade with a very high level of political integrity, maturity, credibility built on high pedestal of Godliness, humility, transparency, courage, faith and sheer will determination to make things work.
“As a legislator who through the grace of God and support of his people served for 8 years, he has contributed immensely in providing succor to the people and improving the communities with some basic dividends of democracy, which are visible everywhere within the constituencies he had represented. We believe he can do better if given a higher responsibility.
“The Coalition, having concluded a thorough evaluation, recommends him to lead our state through its current challenges so as to deepen and consolidate on what was done by past leaders and to also bring in new ideas that will help improve good governance.
“We have therefore decided to adopt Hon. Dr Golu, base on his achievements within the past years.”
While pressing home their argument concerning why the Governorship seat should be zoned to PANKSHIN/ KANKE/ KANAM (PKK) by the party, the Coalition stated that, the Senatorial zone has two Federal Constituencies, and the Mangu/ Bokkos Federal Constituency, having produced former Governor Joshua Dariye (from Bokkos LGA), who served for 8years under the party and now with a sitting Deputy Governor, Prof. Sonny Gwanle Tyoden (from Mangu LGA) about to end his second tenure, it is only politically and morally expedient to get someone from PKK, who understands the issues, problems, chemistry and socio-economic structure of the state to occupy the exalted office.
Adding that, “While we have many capable hands from the central zone that can occupy this office, we believe that someone with an added advantage of experience, knowledge, understanding and capacity to move the state forward, in the person of, Hon. Dr. Timothy Golu, be put forward for consideration by stakeholders.”
