2022 BUDGET: Obiano Presents, 141,969,369,784 BN To Anambra State Lawmakers

The Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Chief Willie Obiano has presented the 2022 Draft Budget of One hundred and Forty-one Billion, Nine Hundred and Sixty Nine Million, Three Hundred and Sixty Nine Thousand, Seven Hundred and Eighty Four Naira (141,969,369,784) for the services of Anambra State for the year ending 31 December, 2022, to the Anambra State House of Assembly yesterday, 14th October, 2021.

Governor Obiano before presenting the Budget tagged “Budget for Continuity, Consolidation and Economic Prosperity” in his speech thanked the Lawmakers for the roles they played so far in his administration.

Obiano, while listing his achievements from the last Budget stated that, “this will be the last time he will be standing before the lawmakers to present a Budget before handing leadership to the new government”.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor, in his address said, “By this time last year, his Excellency Chief Willie Obiano was here to present the 2021 appropriation Bill. With the remarkable support of this House of Assembly, we have all seen the positive results of this year’s budget notwithstanding the adverse effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Your Excellency, your administration has recorded tremendous achievements both in human and infrastructural development, you have made Ndi-Anambra proud through your purposeful administration”

Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon Obinna Emeneka, member representing Anambra East Constituency, in his vote of thanks, hailed Governor Obiano for his achievements and legacy projects stating that his name has been written in gold and posterity will be kind to him. He commended all those who in one way or the other made all these achievements a success.

Emeneka assured Obiano that, the Budget would be looked into, after which, a legal framework that would satisfy the intent of the government and the development expectations of Ndi-Anambra would be made.

The Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Pascal Agbodike, Minority Leader,  Hon. Onyibuchi Ofor and Hon. Uzoma Eli the member representing Onitsha South 1 and the Executive Chairman, Anambra Physical Planning Board and Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor on Digital Economy, Hon Chike Mmaduekwe, in their separate interviews said, “It is a Realistic Budget”.
