PLATEAU STATE LG ELECTIONS: TURNOUT CLOSE TO ZERO

The ongoing Plateau State Local Government Councils’ election is already recording very low turnout.

The election has also divided Jos, the capital of the state in Jos North Local Government Area (LGA), into Christian and Muslim zones.

Our Correspondents, who are monitoring the elections, have reported that, the low turnout may have been caused by the exclusion of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the contest.

EMPTY POLLING UNIT CLOSE TO RWANG PAM STREET

They reported that, in some polling units in Jos, between Rwam Pam Street to the popular Gada Biu, the low turnout of voters can be noticed with the empty roads and the lack of voters in polling units.

POLLING UNIT AT PRISON QUARTERS

Steve Aluko Daniel, a Human Rights activist, in an interview has attributed the low turnout to voters’ apathy.

He said the exclusion of the PDP from the exercise is an indication that, the country is now embracing Democratic Autocracy, which must be condemned by all citizens.

PLASIEC STAFF ONLY IN POLLING UNIT AT PRISON QUATERS

According to reports reaching our news desk, the polling units at the Prison quarters, Langtang street, West of Mines, Jenta Makeri among others, have all had below 11 voters, out of over 1000 registered voters in their registers since 8.am to 1.15pm, the time of reporting.

Adding, Comrade said, the sign indicates that, “Nigerians have already started to protest against the Government of Plateau State for the reckless decision to exclude some political parties from the exercise.
