Anambra State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, 12th October, 2021, passed the Anti-open Grazing and other livestock probation Bill and has transmitted same for the assent of the Governor.
The Lawmakers after going through the Bill on a clause by clause consideration passed it, after third reading of the Bill at plenary.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor, had earlier conducted a voice vote on each of the clauses of the Bill before its passage by the Members.
Okafor said, “The passage of the Bill followed the consideration of the report of the public hearing, presented by the Chairman of House Committee on Agriculture, Hon. John Nwokoye, member representing Awka North Constituency.
Subsequently, the Speaker, directed the Clerk of the House, Mr. Pius Udo, to transmit a clean copy of the Bill to the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano for assent.
The Bill when eventually signed into Law, would prevent the destruction of crop farms, community ponds, settlements and properties, as well as, optimize the use of land resources in the face of overstretched land and increasing population.
