EDITORIAL: STOP GIVING INCORRECT SITUATIONAL REPORTS ON THE PLATEAU BECAUSE OF POLITICAL GAINS

It is a fact that information is POWER because, it is a great weapon for influencing citizens, groups, and others.

It is also a fact that RUMOURS are very hard to verify or authenticate in a turbulent environment ruled by political interests.

It is also true that Plateau State is composed of 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and each Local Government Council (LGC) is governed by persons indigenous to it and having the interest of the people at heart, despite the leadership’s political interest at any time.

Plateau State, for political and administrative convenience, is also further divided into Constituencies and Senatorial Districts to help project the needs of the people at the national level.

Also, to maintain peace and order in the state, Security Agencies have their State Headquarters among other local branch offices in the state.

These Agencies and citizens in the various administrative divisions are loaded with tools to monitor their areas to make available information on any potential threat to the state and its citizens.

But, owing to political reasons and the need to cause mutinying among innocent and unsuspecting citizens, politicians in Plateau State are trying to usurp the powers of these structures to establish unseen tension in Plateau State.

This must be corrected by the Security Agencies in the state, as the information available on this subject matter can mostly be traced to bad election losers in the state.

Footages of these threats to cause injury, if the Judgments passed by the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division are not reversed abound on several social media platforms.

For the record, there is no tension anywhere concerning the Judgments passed by the Court of Appeal in the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Plateau State.

Even if it is conceded that there is, it remains a rumour and not information since it is not official, as it is not coming from the leadership structures across the 17 LGCs.

More so, the Security Agencies operating in Plateau state have never raised such alarm, but have consistently warned professionally too, that citizens in the state should maintain Law and Order in the state.

The pressure to create tension in the state, if properly analyzed by the Security Operatives in the state, is lying on the current decision of the Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker to delay the Legitimate Members of the Assembly from resuming after the sack of 15 Lawmakers who came to the House under the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

IT IS THEREFORE EXPECTED THAT THE SECURITY OPERATIVES SHOULD GO BEYOND WARNING AND BEGIN TO ARREST NOW.
