By: Wilson Bako (Lafia)

A group of over twenty Ethnic Nationalities from Nasarawa State Nigeria, have protested against the formation of a Vigilante Group by Miyetti Allah, stating that they will never trust any security outfit enforced on them by a stranger who is widely suspected to be their frequent aggressor.

Addressing a crowded press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Press Center in Lafia on Wednesday, the Forum of Ethnic Youths’ Presidents in the state said, the Miyetti Allah group has no right whatsoever to form such a security outfit in the state under the leadership of one Alhaji Abdullahi Bodijo.

The Spokesperson of the Ethnic Youths, Comrade Silas Louder Yeliene, accused the State Government of complicity as the identity of all those that formed the membership of the so called Vigilante group could best be described as “unidentified” since their locations within the state are unknown.

Comrade Silas alleged that, over 90 percent of Kidnappers and Armed Robbers in the state correctional centers are Fulanis and are ot of Nigeria origin.

He added that, “they cannot fold their arms and watch Alh. Badijo inaugurate migrants with uniforms from non-existing communities in the state that might lead to terrorism and banditry in the state.

Comrade Silas said, “what would expect from a security outfit that is formed by a tribe whose stock in trade is night grazing on farm crops of law abiding farmers coupled with attacks on innocent citizens and displacing them from their ancestral homes”.

He pledged their support and loyalty at all times to the State Government and assured the administration of their total determination to ensure peaceful coexistence in the state.

Comrade Silas, while reemphasizing their total rejection of the formation of the Miyetti Allah Vigilante Group, called on both the State and Federal Government to rise up to the current security challenges that has bedeviled the country.

The Forum also kicked against the arming of private security organizations in the state in view of the peculiar, as well as, the fragile security situation in the state.

They also appealed to government to as a matter of urgency, arrest and prosecute Alh. Bello Badijo, including all those that have hands in the formation of the so called Miyetti Allah Vigilante Group in State and announced the immediate proscription of the group, if truly it has been registered as widely acclaimed.
