SYLVANUS NAMANG’S MURDER: RT. HON. IBRAHIM BABA HASSAN, EXPRESSES OUTRAGE AND SADNESS

Former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hassan has expressed disbelief and sadness over the killing of the Plateau State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Sylvanus Nanmang, who was killed by some assailants at a provision store in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday last week.

The former lawmakers who condemned the killing in strong terms described it as “inhumane, condemnable and unacceptable”.

Baba Hassan who was devastated on receiving the sad news shortly has called on security agencies operating in the state to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act and make them face the full wrath of the law.

Ibrahim Baba Hassan recounted his encounter with the late Namang during his time as the Member representing Jos North-North State Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly and when he later emerged as the candidate of the party for Bassa /Jos North House of Representatives, said late Namang did his best in marketing the APC to the glory of God.

It is on record that, the late Namang served as Commissioner of Information, General Manager of Plateau State Publishing Company and a one-time Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), General Manager of Lafia Station, and a one-time Press Secretary to the former Deputy Senate President, late Senator Ibrahim Nasiru Mantu, as well as, the Plateau State Publicity Secretary of the APC, which is the last position he held, until his gruesome murder on Saturday.

Rt, Hon. Baba Hassan in a Condolence Message he signed, described Sylvanus Namang as jovial, friendly, and Committed in his assignments as he served with diligence, hard work, and dedication in displaying his skills in practical journalism where the younger professionals in the media industry learn from his skills.

The former lawmaker on behalf of his family, friends, and political associates, conveyed his condolences to the APC family, the immediate family of Namang, and the entire Plateau people, over the colossal loss, while praying to God to grant his soul eternal rest.
