As the 2024 Plateau State Ministerial Press Briefing continues, the State Commissioner of Information and Communication, Hon. Musa Ibrahim Ashoms has reminded the citizens that the event is aimed at carrying along the populace in Good Governance and Sustainable Development of the incumbent state administration led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang (Esq).
He made this remark at the Plateau State 2024 Ministerial Press Briefing, on 26th April 2024, in the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Education, at the J. D. Gomwalk Secretariat in Jos.
Hon. Ashoms said the Press Briefing is the first focal point of the Green Cap Policy Thrust of Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration, which is “Good Governance and Citizens Participation in Sustainable Development”, and also, a core mandate of the Ministry of Information and Communication, to enlighten, educated, and inform the citizens.

The Commissioner, called on Journalists in the state to be professional in reporting the proceedings.
He said, “I, therefore, challenge you Journalists to rise to the occasion and uphold your professional guidelines as you write your reports and file them. I assure you that the government will work closely with you as it pursues its agenda for growth and development, in line with its Policy Thrust”.

As the 2024 ministerial press briefing begins, it gives me joy to know that this is coming a long time after the last one was held. But, of course, the time to reintroduce this event is now, in line with the administration's inspirational catchphrase, The Time is Now.
Let me state right away that this event is a core mandate of the Ministry of Information and Communication, which is expected to bolster its vision for an enlightened, educated, and informed populace. But it also corresponds with the present administration's idea of carrying citizens along in accordance with the first focal point of the Green Cap Policy Thrust, which is “Good Governance and Citizens Participation in Sustainable Development.”
I therefore make due acknowledgment to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for his enthusiastic support and expedited approval of this briefing. This gesture highlights his readiness to provide the tonic for the reactivation of the machinery of government in all of its departments. It is this attitude that drives vigorous activities across various sectors and, across the state, turning it into a huge project site for massive infrastructural development and an incubator for robust public policy initiatives.
Because the civil service is the engine room of government, you can be sure that a lot of the paperwork takes place in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) before the physical manifestation of such efforts. Today, we behold the first set of these MDAs that will provide insights into what the administration has done in its first year. And, crucially, we are all before the cream of media professionals without whom this exercise is never complete. Appropriately named the fourth estate of the realm, the media is indeed a critical link in the chain of events that shape our world and how we perceive it. I, therefore, challenge you journalists to rise to the occasion and uphold your professional guidelines as you write your reports and file them. I assure you that the government will work closely with you as it pursues its agenda for growth and development, in line with its policy thrust.
I commend the MDAs under the guidance of the Office of the Head of Service for responding to the call for this all-important event. The Permanent Secretary, Directors, and staff of the Ministry of Information and Communication did not leave anything to chance as we got this event underway.
Gentlemen of the press, ladies and gentlemen, let’s begin!
