NASARAWA: WINDSTORM KILLS ONE, AND DESTROYS WORSHIP CENTERS. AGBASHI DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (ADA), APPEALS FOR RELIEF

At least one person was reportedly killed and several others sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of a heavy Windstorm in Agbashi Community of Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State on Tuesday.  It was also reliably gathered that over 100 houses including houses used as worship centers were also destroyed by the rampaging windstorm.

Briefing newsmen on the sad incident Wednesday, the Vice Chairman of Doma Local Government Council, Mr. John Bako-Ari, disclosed that the unfortunate tragedy occurred on Tuesday evening.

He explained that over one hundred residential houses were destroyed including the Agbashi Central Mosque, while part of Pilot Primary School Agbashi and several other public infrastructures were not spared by the devastating windstorm.

In his reaction to the incident, the Acting Chairman of Agbashi Development Association (ADA, Mr. Anthony Oshinyeka said, the sad incident has brought untold hardship to the affected victims, especially at these hard times.

He said the area worst hit by the windstorm is the Bassa settlement in Iponu at the outskirt of Agbashi where one person lost his life and seven others sustained injuries.

 He appealed to the State Government to come to their rescue to cushion the effect of the destruction on them.

The Development Association leader also called for the immediate release of relief materials and medical aid by the Government and public-spirited individuals to the affected victims.
